Blurring the lines ~ Jiara

Noise at the window

Kiara was lying awake for hours in bed just analysing her actions earlier. Why did I give him a kiss on the cheek? He doesn't even like me like that, I've ruined everything.

Finally she managed to doze of for a while until she was woken up abruptly to a noise. She sat up immediately and looked around frantically.

She has a confused expression on her face but figures she just imagined the noise and starts to lay back down when she heard it again. She jolts up and off her bed.

" what the fuck" she whispers to herself realising it was coming from her window. Kiara reluctantly pushes her curtains aside and looks out of the glass still confused and a little scared.

"Pssst" she hears and looks down.

"JJ?"

She pushes her window up and leans her head out a little.

" what the hell are you doing!" She shout whispers ( if that makes sense)

" can I come in?" He replies

She notices a sad undertone to his voice, she sighs for a moment and then gestures him up to her window. He climbs up and clumsily staggers in bumping straight into her. She places her hands on his shoulders to steady him.

" are you ok?" She asks looking concerned.

" depends how you define ok" he brushes of and starts to walk around her room.

" cool posters" he gestures to the wall attempting to change the subject.

"JJ" she says as he turn to meet her gaze

" why are you here?" She asks softly

" and ( she sniffs) have you been drinking?"

"Me? No of course not" he pretends to be offended

She raises her eyebrows at him wanting him to be honest with her.

" I haven't seriously , it's ..... my dad, I told you he was a drunk" he turns away and scrunches his face in pain.

" what's thi...... " kiara raises her hand to his face and gentle strokes his cheek as she notices a dark purple bruise developing.

" your dad?" She asks as her eye gloss over.

He just looks into her eyes and doesn't verbally respond, but it's all the answer she needed. She pulls him into a tight hug and he relaxes in her arms hugging her back.

" I don't know why I came here, I just didn't know where to go"

He opens his mouth to start speaking again.

" I'm glad you came" kiara interjects quickly.

"Really?" He whispers

"Yes, really"

Kiara walks over to her bed and pats it asking JJ to come over.

" you should get some sleep"
" we both should" she adds

JJ accepts the invitation and gets into her bed after her.

Kiara reached for and held his hand and they both fell asleep, feeling safe, a feeling neither of them were particularly used to, but was nice to feel after all this time.
