JJ hasn't slept, he tended not too. So much was going on in his head. Everyone left the party hours and hours ago, and it's now about 5:15 am. Surfing could always clear his mind, gave him something to focus on, made him feel free. He catches another few waves successfully and then decides to just sit on his board in the water and enjoy the sunrise.

He was taken by surprise when he heard splashes coming from a few metres away from him. He looked over and squinted his eyes to make out a girl on a surfboard. And by another surprise, she was good, really good. She could give himself a run for his money.

How had he never seen her here before? And who was she? JJ thought to himself.

He continued to watch her until she suddenly looked over. This startled him so much he
fell off his surfboard and into the water.

" watching how it's done are we?" She giggled

"Kiara" he whispered in realisation

" erm no I was just surprised to see anyone out here so early"

"Well ( she sighs) it's peaceful when there's no else is here, quiet and calm."

" you know" she adds softly

"Yeah" he smiles gently

" I know"

" so, kiara you never told me you were a kook?" JJ questions

"Well, JJ you never told me you were a pogue?" She fires back.

"Fair"

" I mean yeah I live on figure eight and everything but I think I'm more of a lone wolf."

" cool" he responds " I like wolves" he says chuckling and she joins in.

Their laughs subside and their eyes meet for a few seconds.

" we'll , you've seen me, now show me what you've got" she says breaking the silence and gesturing to his green board.

JJ smirks and grabs it, " gladly"

Kiara was really surprised by how good he was, maybe the best she'd seen. But obviously she wasn't going to tell him that.

She gets up and joins him. They surf for hours, just silently enjoying this newfound company.

It just felt natural and comforting.

JJ had a weird feeling that kiara could become really important to him. It was both an exciting and frightening feeling, but one he wanted to keep hold of.
