Sleepover

"Right then, I'm going back to bed. He was keeping me awake with all his tossing and turning" JB says standing up from the coach.

" me too" pope adds

" night bro" JJ replies as they do their little pogue handshake.

"So.." JJ starts
"So" kiara mirrors

" where did you disappear to this morning?" He says softly

" home" she whispers not really wanting to get into it.

JJ can sense that's she's upset and hiding something but doesn't want to push too much. He gives her hand a reassuring squeeze which makes her smile slightly.

" let's go to bed too" she says yawning. Although she couldn't sleep at home it didn't mean she wasn't tired, and she thought she'd have a much better chance at getting some sleep by being with JJ, having him next to her made her feel ..... safe.

Kiara snuggled into JJ whilst he stroked her hair. But JJ couldn't get the thought out of his mind, did someone hurt her? He couldn't help but feel angry at the prospect.

"Kiara?" he whispers

"Yes"

" you never said what happened to you face" he said continuing to stroke her hair.

She just sighed, contemplating if and what she should tell him. She had planned to lie but now she's here she just couldn't do it. And anyway she trusted JJ. A lot.

"My mum" she whispered

" what?" JJ replies sitting up quickly in shock. This really hit home for him obviously with what he's gone through with his dad, and he's hate for Kiara to have to experience any of that.

" look I know what your thinking but she's never done it before, she's not a violent person, she was just angry and I don't blame her"

" that's not an excuse"

" I know" she said softly planting a kiss on his forehead.

" was she angry about you spending time with me? Because if I'm getting you in trouble I can..."

"JJ ( she cuts him of and smiles) no that's not it, she was just mad that I stayed out all night after our argument "

" argument about what?" He questions

" oh you know, me not being the picture perfect Daughter she's always wanted, the usual" she jokes but there's a sad undertone to her words.

" so why couldn't you sleep?" She changes the subject quickly before he can respond to what she just said.

" all this tossing and turning?" She adds

JJ wanted to talk to more about her parents and everything going on but could immediately tell now wasn't the right time to push that. So he let it go.

" my minds just busy, like always " he sighs

" something John B said was just bothering me, about me always running away from relationships, and I don't necessarily mean with girls but with people in general. I think it's because I'm just so worried about depending on people and then being let down you know?"

" and tbh I'm not sure how to fix that, but I want to try..... for you"

Kiara can't help but smile and pulls JJ in for a kiss.

" thank you"

" for what?"

" everything".
