-Venus POV-
It has been a two week since Booth's death and Temp, and I haven't been doing so well. I try my best to be there for her, but even I start to struggle as she puts her focus on her work and I try do the same. But my panic attacks that I have started increasingly more than usual, and I stay most of the time in my safe haven room in the lab where I would ride it out. I would have reoccurring dreams of that night when I lost another brother. I also start to remember everyone that I cared that I had lost up until now. It's been haunting me as I don't get as much sleep as I want, but I luckily would have Zack with me who stayed like himself and acted normal around me unlike the others who gave me a sad look. He really is my best friend that I could count on other than Angie, even though he doesn't realize it himself on how much he kept me from having any more episodes than I do know. Booth's funeral starts in an hour as I was in my safe haven room alone riding out my current panic attack.
-No One POV-
Brennan is looking at remains as she says, "The carbon isotopic composition of the collagen shows a value of minus 16%." Zack then says, "Supporting the theory that the deceased was born in Provence, France." "In the 16th century." The team but Venus comes over to the two as Hodgins then says, "It's time, Dr. Brennan." Brennan doesn't listen as she continues, "The metacarpophalangeal joints are smooth, showing dexterity. Perhaps a musician." Cam then says, "That's enough. We're going now." "I have remains to identify. He could have a family." Angela then says, "He's 500 years old. They've probably adjusted by now." "I'm not going. I've already made that clear." Sweets then says, "It's Agent Booth's funeral, Dr. Brennan. Losing a loved one is..." "A partner, Sweets; I lost a partner and Ven lost a brother..." "Someone close to you. The funeral allows you to grieve, so you can come to terms with his death." "The Arunta Aboriginal tribe in Australia grieve by burning down their village and moving to a new one. That seems no crazier to me than gathering around a hole in the ground." "Being hostile won't..."
Angela then grabs Brennan, "Brennan, a word." Sweets then says, "Excuse me. Professional psychologist." Angela pulls Brennan over to the side, "Look. I know how you see things, and I respect that. But I need to ask you a favor." She takes out Booth's funeral invitation, "I have to go to the funeral. I'm not going to be able to get through this alone. I've been crying for, like, days. I really need your shoulder here. I need my best friend. And Venus needs you as well. Like you said earlier... to Venus she didn't lose a partner like you, she lost her brother. She didn't have anyone to lean on when she lost those, she cared about during her times serving in the military. She probably didn't have the time to grieve but move forward. But this time she finally has us, more specifically you so she could finally start her grieving for all those years she couldn't. She needs you the most than any of us out there right now." Brennan thinks about it knowing that it is true as she then nods agreeing to go. They walk back to the group as Angela says to the others, "She's going with us." Cam nods, "All right one Brennan down, we need another one to go." Hodgins then says, "Yeah, but we don't have access to her safe haven room." Zack then raises his hand, "I do." They look at him as he continues, "She let's me sleep in there when I stay all night working at the lab." Cam then says, "Great. Go get her." He nods going down the platform going to get Venus from her room.
-Venus POV-
We were all at the funeral as I try my best to stay strong in front of the others as we listen to Caroline speak, "I knew Seeley Booth. He was a good man who earned my respect and affection. And I don't like many people. Booth had a selfless commitment to his work, first in the military and the FBI. Two weeks ago, he made the ultimate sacrifice, giving his life to save his partners." I touch my stomach recalling the events as I still felt that stinging pain where I got shot as Caroline continues, "And in that brave act, he showed us what greatness we are all capable of." Temp then says, "That woman was aiming at me. I would have happily taken that bullet." Angie then tells her, "I know." I looked at Zack and whispered, "Could I hold your hand, Zack?" He nods as I interwind our hands as a way to comfort myself more as Caroline continues, "May God's mercy and love shine on Seeley Booth as he takes his place beside the Lord." I squeeze Zacks hand a bit as Temp then says, "If there were a merciful God, why wouldn't He have saved Booth?"
