-Venus POV-
Booth continues on with that, "Yeah. What happened?" "Well, I hired Harriet about a year ago. We started seeing each other, and..." He sighs, "I thought we were gonna get married. Six months later, out of the blue, she dumps me. Quits. Says she needs her space. What the hell does that even mean?"
Temp not understanding that it was just a phrase explains, "Nothing. Space being neutral; or, in some cases, negative, can't be acquired, therefore..." I try not to laugh as Booth stops her talking getting back to the main focus tells Bellomo, "Just, uh, go on. Continue." Mr. Bellomo nods, "Well, because having a broken heart's not bad enough, a month later, I lost the contract with my biggest distributor."
Booth then asks, "How much do you know about her personal life? Her history?" "What she told me. And her sister. I know her sister, too." He pauses thinking about it for a moment, "'Knew' her."
I was a bit surprised as Booth asks, "You slept with her sister?" Mr. Bellomo groans seeming to regret it, "We had a little fling. That's how I met Harriet. She was staying at Geneva's for a couple of days, and she needed a job and... she had an impressive resume." Booth then points out the obvious on what happened, "You dumped Geneva?"
He nods quickly revealing something interesting, "Yeah, well, good thing, too. Geneva was nuts. When she heard I was with Harriet, she went insane. You know that woman waited for me in a tree outside my house? She almost took my eye. Those girls hate each other's guts."
Booth had some people retrieve Geneva as Temp and I go back to the lab and see what progress Vincent has made. We watch him as he explains, "Interestingly, the cacao tree is a species of the genus Theobroma, which translates from the Latin as the 'food of the gods." I nod, "That would've been very interesting to know, if I actually didn't know that one." He looked on the ground a bit disappointed, "Oh..." I pat his back, "Good try on that one."
Temp then tells him, "What would actually be interesting is an explanation of the perimortem fractures, Mr. Nigel-Murray." "Of course. They support our scenario of the attack. With one hand, the killer held the victim down and fracturing the clavicle and the sternum, while suffocating her with the other hand." I nod, "Yeah, that sounds exactly how it feels." They look at me as I turn to them noticing their confusion and concerned looks as I point out, "Happened while I was serving."
They nod as Vincent seemed a bit frightened as Temp asks him, "Anything else?" He nods, "Oh, yes. I took a closer look at the antemortem trauma that somehow escaped medical care. There is a very small proliferative lesion on the distal edge of the fracture." I then point out, "It's an adventitious cyst. The compromised bone formed a callus around a foreign object that was embedded in the open wound." I look at Vincent, "Do you have this on X-ray?"
He nods taking it out the tablet remote, "Yes." He puts it up on screen as we see a closer look at the embedment as Temp says, "It looks like a small rock." Vincent remembers something as he quickly says getting our attention, "Oh! Rock was the subject of my only disputed Jeopardy answer." I nod a bit as Temp asks, "Is this relevant, Mr. Nigel-Murray?"
But Vincent continues, "The category was 'Famous Jameses. The question: 'He is widely considered the best rock guitarist of all time. So, obviously, my answer: 'Who is Jimmy Page?' No. It's not the response. The response they were looking for: 'Who is Jimi Hendrix?" I nod a bit trying to see how this pieces together with the case as Temp tries to stop him, "Mr. Nigel-Murray." "I know. I know. Jimi Hendrix. Okay, first of all, Jimmy Page is a better musician. That's a fact. Also, Jimi Hendrix? His original birth name is Johnny. So he doesn't, doesn't even belong in the category."
I smile a bit seeing how irritated Vincent was still about that as Temp says not amused, "That wasn't relevant at all, Mr. Nigel-Murray." She then begins walking away as I follow as she tells him, "Take a microslice of the cyst and have Dr. Hodgins identify the foreign object." He nods as I then give him a wave bye telling him, "I must say that I was entertained there for a bit. See you later Vincent." "See you, later!"
