I hurried down the hall towards Atlas's "office", which was basically just a fancy word for his room. I was starting to get the layout of this place figured out, and I smiled proudly to myself.
Just half an hour ago, Mariah woke me up to an empty room. I suppose I slept through breakfast, and she told me Atlas wanted me to see his as soon as I could be dressed.
I knocked on his door.
"Come in," he said. His voice seemed deeper than usual. Damn, must be that morning voice I've heard about in books.
"Good morning, Sarah. Take a seat." He promptly cleared his throat.
I sat down in the chair across from him, at his desk, and he sat across from me.
"I was pleased to hear the news of your decision last night," he said.
I slowly nodded remembering all that happened the evening before, "Yes, after some thought, I figured it was something I could do."
"Well, you "figured" may not cut it. I'm going to need you know you can do it. Like I do."
His comment made me blush.
"Early this morning, I went into town and put your name down for the Rose Ball guest list, along with the donation. Since it is already Saturday, and the Ball is this coming Friday, we are going to need to move quickly. I know someone who just so happens to be the best dressmaker around. He is designing and making many of the dresses for the guests that will be attending that evening. He will also be making yours," Atlas said to me.
"Really?? How did you manage that," I asked surprised.
"Oh, he owes me a favor so I decided to cash that in now," he said back with a grin.
"W-well thank you!"
"He's just arrived, so you are to see him immediately. I told your friends they can bring you breakfast when they have finished, and can join you later."
With that I suppose the conversation was over and I exited his room. Going down a series of halls, I finally came to a door that opened into a well-lit room, about the size of my dorm. Floor to ceiling mirrors lined the far wall, a small circular platform was placed in front of the mirrors, and a boy a couple years older than me, was cutting fabric on a table in a corner.
"Heyyy," the boy said, cheerfully approaching me as he clasped his hands together. He was about five inches taller than me, jet black hair that fell to a middle part on his head and slight curls by his eyes, brown eyes, and a slim but muscular figure. He wore a black long sleeve blouse and forest green fitted slacks. He dressed minimalist yet classy.
"Hi I'm Sarah," I said extending my arm as we shook hands.
"Hello Sarah, my name is Isaiah and I am going to be your fairy godmother today!"
His entire demeanor was warm and light. It was like a kind radiance beamed off of him and the vibes in the room quickly lifted. Any nerves I might have had, soon vanished.
Isaiah escorted me to the center of the circular platform and I stepped onto it. It was then I noticed the skylight right above me and how nice the lighting in this room was. Isaiah interrupted my thoughts and pulled a tape measurer from his pants pocket, "Atlas tells me you are a fiery one."
I rolled my eyes, "I don't know about that, but I guess here I am." I nervously laughed at the thought of me going to a ball at the palace. Is this really happening?...
"Arms up," Isaiah said and quickly began taking measurements of me and jotting them down in a small leather notebook. "So, tell me Sarah, who are you?"
