Kalum stood before me at the bottom of the staircase. He didn't look very happy. No surprise there. I awkwardly made my way back down the stairs to him.
He folded his arms, "Were you going to pick out a room to stay in or something?"
"Well you did say, I could stay as long as I please."
"I am positive I didn't mean it in that way."
Rawr.
I finally joined him on the floor level and he sighed, "You can't go up there. It's off limits to guests."
"I'm sorry, I didn't know."
"Right."
So the bedrooms are up there. Noted.
Prince Kalum gestured for me to walk in front of him, and we began our slow awkward, silent walk back down the never-ending hall. Did this hall suddenly get longer? I could practically feel his eyes tearing into the back of my head. He's so moody around me. He looked, at least, like he was enjoying himself when he was dancing with the other girls or chatting with them.
Eventually we both make it back into the ballroom and I came face to face with Jeremiah, holding two glasses of champagne.
"Wah-Sarah! What are you," Jeremiah then notices an annoyed Kalum standing behind me, "Ohhhhh getting caught, I see. You're just as mischievous as I am." Jeremiah laughed and handed me one of the glasses.
"Jeremiah. Stop playing favorites. You know how important this night is for mother," Kalum says.
"For you maybe," Jeremiah shoots back.
"You know what I mean. Just stay in this room and find a new dance partner. Let's go."
Kalum brushes Jeremiah's shoulder, as he walked past him. Jeremiah turned to me and gave an apologetic look, before following his brother into the crowd.
