Once we retuned, the Queen was talking to the newest member of the head guard. She immediately introduced us and disappeared to have a chat with Jeremiah.

"Hi, I'm Sarah Hart," I respectfully introduced.

The guard lifted their hat so I could more clearly see their face and I was pleasantly surprised at what I saw.

"I know. The Queen briefed me on you and your recent situation. I'm Maddy," the woman responded.

She didn't look crazy strong per se, but she did have a look in her eyes that told me she could hold her own in a fight. Maddy looked about my age, fair skin, short blonde hair, blue eyes, strong jaw, and was honestly quite nice to look at. She could be a model if it wasn't for this air about her that made me feel incredibly intimidated yet weirdly safe.

Maddy spoke directly, "I have been appointed to watch you. I have been given orders by the Queen to take you to your room."

"Oh, of course."

Maddy followed closely behind me as we walked the path to my bedroom. When we arrived, Hannah was inside spinning in circles.

"Sarah," Hannah stopped in her tracks and ran up to hug me, "You're back! I was worried about you last night until I heard about you and the Prince!" Hannah poked me playfully. "You need to tell me everything! Did you two-?"

"-I will be stationed outside," Maddy interrupted.

Hannah turned her attention to the new head guard, just now noticing her presence. "O-oh, hello," Hannah awkwardly stated.

Maddy stood up straighter, her eyes locking on Hannah's.

I glanced between the two of them and stepped back, "Uh Hannah, this is my new guard, Maddy. Maddy this is my maid, Hannah."

Maddy curtly dipped the brim of her hat to Hannah, "Nice to meet you, Miss Hannah. Seems like we will be seeing much of each other. I hope to get to know you more over the course of Hart's stay."

Hannah blushed and began fiddling with her apron, "Likewise."

The guard gave a quick nod then rushed out of the room, closing the door behind her.

"Uhhh," I began laughing, "What was that?"

Hannah quickly composed herself and began cleaning my room. Which looked ridiculous, because it was already clean. "Never mind that. Do you need me to make you some tea? I'll make you some tea. I'll be right back," Hannah rushed.

"Oh sure, thanks."

Hannah smiled, before leaving me alone in my room.

I tried to listen to her footsteps walking away, but they didn't seem to go very far. I giggled to myself and flopped onto my bed.

Oh God, what am I going to do?

Memories of my night with Kalum was running through my mind. He told me he doesn't, in fact, hate me. Then I kissed him. He kissed me back.

I ran my fingertips over my skin, remembering the heat we shared the night before. Kalum. Does Prince Kalum like me? After everything we have gone through since my stay, it's hard to comprehend he does. I thought he kept me around to keep Jeremiah happy.

 Jeremiah.

I groaned to myself and pressed the palms of my hands to my eyes. Jeremiah cares so much about me. If this morning didn't prove that, then I don't know what will. Jeremiah is this flirty, sweet, romantic Prince. Plus he's incredibly hot. What's not to like?
