"You're getting water everywhere," Prince Kalum complained.
"Well maybe because I have water soaked through my underwear," I snapped back through chattering teeth.
After Kalum told the guards were we going to the Lodge, we had another ten minute ride. I didn't know what I was expecting, but the lodge was beautiful. It was big, but not obnoxiously large. It had log paneling covering the walls, high ceilings, and a huge glass window that spanned the back wall. We arrived through a couple complex gates and lock pads. One of the guards went to dry off in the guest house next door, while the other rode back to the castle, to update the Queen about our location.
Kalum locked the heavy door behind us and flipped on the warm lights, emitting from the chandeliers. I stayed standing on the front door mat, as water rapidly trickled down my legs and from the ends of my hair.
I watched him as he ran around, switching on lamps and adjusting the temperature.
He walked over to a small chest that sat on a ledge above the fireplace, and put in some code. The chest popped open. Pulling out a set of keys, he began unlocking a door nearby.
"This is the guest room, there should be clean clothes in here," he motioned for me to follow him.
Careful to step on the carpeted areas, I followed the Prince into a quaint bedroom. A small bed with quilted sheets, dark wood furniture, and a small bathroom was attached. It was rustic but cozy. I felt more comfortable here than at the fancy Maxwell Palace, that is for sure.
I walked past him in silence, towards what looked to be a dresser. Maybe it was the atmosphere of the Lodge or the fact we actually had a good time with each other today, but the air felt tense. In a way I couldn't describe. I wasn't comfortable, but I wasn't uncomfortable either. We were alone. No people around. Just the two of us. At night. Together. In a bedroom. Dripping in rain. What could go wrong?
Kalum stepped into the bathroom to warm up the shower. I touched the cold iron knobs on the drawers and pulled. They surprisingly were heavy, and stacks of folded clothing revealed themselves.
I rifled through the shirts. All male button ups and sweaters. They all came in two sizes. Which I assume is to fit Prince Jeremiah and Prince Kalum. I opened another drawer and found dress pants. Nope, still not what I am looking for. Pressing my lips together, I opened the bottom drawer, but it was stuck. I grunted to myself, tugging on the knobs.Suddenly the drawer flung open and a small piece of fabric fell onto the floor. What the hell?
I picked up the thing that was jamming the drawer shut, to examine it.
"Ew!" I threw the lace thong across the room and onto the bed, wiping my hands on my wet dress.
I then noticed the bottom drawer was completely full of women's clothing. All in the same size and style.
Kalum ran out of the bathroom, towels in hand, "What happened? Didn't find anything you like?'
Kalum's amused smile faded once his eyes trailed to the bed. I watched his expression change from confusion to realization to anger to a hint of concern. His eyes snapped to mine then back to the underwear on the bed then to the open drawer behind me.
He cleared his throat roughly, "Jeremiah or uh... Fuck. Forget it. I thought I told her to take her stuff..." He was mumbling now.
I raised an eyebrow at him. His face was flushed, clearly at a loss for real words.
I know I have no place being upset, but I put the pieces together and my stomach dropped. Jeremiah did say Kalum was known for his many conquests, but knowing he has had them here, in this room, made me want to puke.
