Kalum's Point of View:

The girls around me were like cobras, and I was their mouse. They looked at me like I was prey, when in fact, I would think of myself as the predator.

I politely excused myself from the group of girls that swarmed me as another song ended, and I made my way to the back of the room. Their shrieks for attention was starting to give me a headache. Maybe a small drink will ease my suffering.

I nodded my head to one of the butlers and took the glass of champagne offered to me, "Thank you, Taylor." Memories of my dad commanding the help for things, used to irritate me as a child. So I made it my mission to learn everyone's name, who worked for us. To me, that was the sign of a true and fair king. I would study everyone's names, every night, until I'd fall asleep. I grew to hate it, but it seemed to pay off. All workers of the castle seemed a bit livelier and kinder towards myself and Jeremiah.

I brought the glass to my lips, to take a sip, when a sudden loud bang came from the hallway. Seriously? What now?

I turned to face the direction the sound came from, and a couple girls cut in front of me, smiling.

"Excuse me, ladies," I said politely, before handing them my drink. As I walked off I could hear them squealing quietly to each other. They're all the same.

I'll get another one later. After I figure out who is making such a racket.

A guard started to follow me and I let him. It sounded like the noise came from the library door slamming shut.

Without hesitation, I gripped the door handle and pulled it open. I quickly scanned the room, and to my (not-so) surprise, I see Sarah lying on the floor. The guard behind me goes to follow inside, but I raise my hand to him and give him a look that I'll be alright.

Of course it's Sarah. How I am not shocked.

"Sarah, what are you doing," I call out to her annoyed.

As I get closer, I realize that she's off. She isn't acting like her usual irritating self. I close the door behind me and slowly stroll over to her. She rolls over on her back and her head falls lazily to the side.

"Ohh, I see. You're drunk," I say bored.

I bent down to help her up, but every time I got close enough to touch her, she started flailing around. I grabbed her hand and she swats me away. I touch her gloved arm and she rolls back over.

"Sarah. Please. I'm trying to help you. Just let me help you up," I go to wrap my arm around her waist and she leans into me. "That's it. Now stand up."

Sarah starts to make a noise but it all came out slurred.

"What," I asked leaning in closer.

She then erupts in giggles and wraps her arm around me tighter. I couldn't help but notice how contagious her laughter was. Has she ever laughed around me before? If she has, it was nothing like this. This joyful. A smile starts to creep onto my lips. I hate it, because it's one I can't hide. Oh well, she's not going to remember this night anyways, she's trashed.

I remember countless nights I'd help Jeremiah when he's drunk, and he only acts like this when he's blacked out. Of course, her tolerance has to be much smaller. She's a petite person after all.

Suddenly Sarah busts out laughing uncontrollably. It was annoying at first but soon became contagious. For the first time since being around her, I let myself laugh. She's actually really pretty when she smiles... No, stop Kalum. She's Satan spawn.
