Morgan's eyebrows furrowed slightly as she found a spell in her grimoire, leaning forward in her seat as she read over the words, letting out a low hum. Her hand shot to her phone, opening the case and unlocking it, scrolling through her contacts for a moment before tapping on the name she wanted, holding her phone up to her ear. The line rang for a moment, before someone answered,
"Yes, Miss Morgan?" One of the guards, Henry, answered
"Put the phone on speaker please" Morgan instructed, hearing a faint tap "what if I told you . . there's a chance you can walk in the sun?"
∆
Louis, his guards, Eric and Alcide we're gathered in the living room of the house, Morgan standing in front of them, wearing a simple black crop top and long skirt, shawl on her arms with her feet bare, her usual jewelry in her. All of them waited for her to speak, a low breath emitting from her as she looked at her grimoire,
"I found a spell, and I want to try it" the woman informed "it's a spell that will allow creatures of the night, to walk in the light" reciting the words from the book
"You think it will allow a vampire to walk in the sun?" Alcide asked, curiosity in his voice
"It's a possibility" looking at him "but in order for me to try it out . ." looking at the vampires ". . I'll need two of your fangs and something personal that you wear. And I'll only be able to do it during the day. But I'm not sure it'll work for both" referring to the two species of vampire
The room went quiet, the woman knowing that vampires were thinking it over, there was a fifty percent chance it wouldn't wouldn't work, but there was also the other fifty percent that it would.
"I will be the first to volunteer" Louis spoke up "you may use my ring" removing a ring from his right middle finger "I have worn this every day since the start of my reign"
The ring was simple, made of iron and painted black with a swirl on the top and bottom, it didn't have any fancy jewels, it wasn't made in the finest gold or silver. Morgan watched as he reached into his mouth with his other hand, pulling out two of his fangs with a grunt, two more snapping back in place. Louis handed the items to Henry, the fangs in one hand and the ring in the other, the guard walking over to Morgan, setting them on a handkerchief that was placed on the coffee table by one of the other guards. All five of them wore black iron rings as well, none of them having any sort of designs like Louis's, but theirs had signified their servitude to the Du Locke name. She gave him a small nod, looking at her father with a nervous smile,". . Okay" slight nervousness in her voice "the sun will be up in a few hours, I'll have to do the spell at noon when it's at its highest" looking at her father "then when it's complete, we'll test it out" looking at Henry "have a Tru Blood ready, just in case, please?"
"Yes, Miss Morgan" Henry replied, giving her a nod

While the vampires waited inside the house, they made sure to keep the blinds and curtains closed in order to block out the sun. Morgan was outside, sitting on her knees on the grass with a large metal bowl in front of her, the grimoire was opened on the floor next to her, and she had carefully read the instructions before she got started. A dark colored liquid was in the bowl, her left index finger running around the rim of the bowl, which stirred the contents inside. She stopped her finger, the contents still stirring, reaching out with her right hand and grasping a purple morning glory from another bowl, dropping it in the center of the dark liquid. The flower swirled with the movements of the liquid, Morgan watching as it began to dissolve, which caused the contents of the bowl to turn into the same color as the flower. She hoped it would work, knowing her father missed the sun, his eyes often lingering on the pictures she had on the walls of the house.
Most of those pictures were hand painted by Morgan, and she always captured the rays of the sun just right, she would catch him looking at the pictures. Alcide watched her from the back porch, careful not to disrupt her, knowing the work of a witch required a lot of concentration, especially a new witch. She ran her finger along the rim of the bowl again, continuing to stir the the liquid that was now purple, reaching out into another bowl and grabbing a sunflower, dropping it in. The sunflower spun around, the petals dissolved first, followed by the center, turning the contents of the bowl into the same color as the sun. She unwrapped the white napkin, grabbing her father's fangs and quickly dropping them in,
"For this creature who walks the night" her voice soft as she put the ring in, grasping the entire thing and holding it up "let him walk the light without harm"
It was a sight to see, Alcide watching as the ray of the sun shot down into the bowl, causing it to light up, as if she were holding the sun itself, Morgan keeping her eyes closed so she wouldn't accidentally blind herself. The light faded a few moments later, allowing her to open her eyes, lowering the bowl, seeing that the liquid had dissolved, leaving only the ring, a slow breath emitting from her as she removed it. Morgan stood on her feet, grimoire in one arm, turning around and giving Alcide a small nod, allowing him to go inside to retrieve her father as she walked over to the back porch. Louis stepped out as she made it to the steps, looking at his daughter as she held out the ring, the vampire looking at it for a moment before taking it from her, slipping it back on his right middle finger. If his heart was beating, he was sure it would be rapid, as it have been a very long time since he had been out in the sun, but he still remembered his last sunset.
Louis slowly put a hand out, Morgan watching as the sun kissed his skin, no damage coming to it, a breath emitting from the woman, looking at her father as tears formed in his eyes. She moved to the side as he slowly walked down the two steps, covering his body in the light of the sun, his eyes closing as he tilted his head up toward the sky, a smile forming on his lips. For the first time in a long time, his skin felt warm, he felt as if his heart could start beating again,
"I never thought I would feel the sun again" honesty in his voice, opening his eyes as he looked at Morgan "thank you for giving me this gift"
