Chapter 27: Double Date

~time skip to five o'clock~

Pony talked Two-Bit into driving us to the date. The four of us are currently on our way to Cherry's house to pick her up. I'm extremely curious about how nice her house is.

I decided to wear a dress. I usually don't wear them when I'm not at school because I feel more comfortable in pants. But I guess today is a special occasion. I have my first "date". I also want to look cute for Cherry. My dress is purple with white polka dots and I paired it with white converse. I left my hair down and put on pink lipstick.

Johnny didn't dress up. He doesn't have any formal wear. The clothes he wore on thanksgiving were borrowed. But I like his normal clothes. I wish that I could wear jeans every day.

We arrive at Cherry's house. I knew that she was rich, but I didn't know she was that  rich. Mom and I used to drive down this street together and look at all the nice houses. I never knew that the Valance's lived in one of them.

Pony gets out of the car to go get Cherry. Johnny watches from the passenger seat with sad eyes as Pony walks up to the front door. He rings the bell and Cherry walks out of her house a few moments later. She is wearing a light pink dress and has her hair pulled back with a ribbon. She looks so pretty. Ponyboy kisses Cherry's hand and I can't help but feel jealous.

Ponyboy and Cherry get into the car. Cherry sits next to me.

"Hi, Lavender!" She says.

"Hey Cherry. I like your dress." I compliment her.

"Thanks, yours is really pretty too. Hi Johnny! Hi Two-Bit." Says Cherry. "Why didn't you tell me that you and Johnny are a thing? You guys are really cute together." She whispers. I feel her breath on my cheek and it makes me blush.

~time skip to at the diner after Twobit drops us off~

We sit at a booth at the diner. I sit across from Cherry and Johnny sits across from Pony. I glance over at Cherry. She looks so hot. But I can't have her. She wants my brother.

Cherry's knee brushes up against mine under the table and she looks at me. We stare into each other's eyes for a moment, then I start blushing. Dammit, I'm gonna blow my cover! I'm surprised to look up and see that Cherry is blushing too. I made Cherry Valance blush?

Johnny reached down and squeezed my hand. He must have noticed Cherry blushing, too.

"So how long have you two been dating?" Asks Cherry and then she takes a sip of her coke.

"Since that day we were with Dally and we ran into you and Marcia here," I say.

"Wow, that's impressive that you hid it for that long." She says.
