Y/N POV
Monday, August 5th, 1985I checked the clock again for the third time in ten minutes. 7:42. I groan and rest my head on the counter. Eight o'clock could not come fast enough. It had been painfully slow at Family Video tonight. We had only had three customers in the four hours I had been there. I had gone over and completed the task list Keith left for me four times at this point and was left with nothing to do but wait to close. I had put on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to ease my boredom, but was coming to regret it as I had to walk home. In the dark. By myself. Just as I was about to keel over and die from the monotony, a customer walked in.
"Welcome to Family Video." I said unenthusiastically before peeling my eyes from the TV screen to look at the door. I froze when I saw who it was that came in. The Freak. He slowly sauntered into the store, twirling his keys on his ringed finger. My eyes fell first onto his body, observing the way his tight shirt hugged his torso and the logo on the front. Hellfire. I swallowed as I remembered what Nancy had told me about the Hellfire club. The thought of being alone in this store with a supposed virgin sacrificer was making my heart race. I allowed my gaze to wander up to his face. He was attractive to me in a strange way, with unique features that only worked well on him. His big brown eyes met mine and I realized I had been staring for an an uncomfortable amount of time.
"Do I have something on my face?" He smirked, amused he caught me checking him out. He slowly approached the counter and put his hands in his pockets.
"I-I" I stammered. I began to sweat. "I'm sorry, it's my first day. Is there anything I can help you with?"
"Oh, I could think of a few things you could help me with," He touched his tongue to his top lip, placing his hands on the counter. I looked down at his hands and took notice of the array of silver rings on each finger. A deep blush crept onto my cheeks. Fuck. He raised an eyebrow at this and grinned wide. "I'm just messing with you."
I was getting flustered, not knowing what to say.
"You're new around here, right?" He said, leaning into the counter a bit.
"Yeah," I nodded. I swallowed hard. I hate how nervous he's making me. "I just moved here from California."
"Damn, and Harrington is already on you, huh?" He snickered.
"What?" I managed to squeak out.
"You're his new girl, right?" He pressed, obviously getting enjoyment from teasing me.
"No, he's just my friend." I stated, confused as to what he was getting at.
"Friend...right," His lips creeping into a smug grin.
I narrowed my eyes at him, getting frustrated with what he was implying. I opened my mouth to protest as he walked away snickering towards the horror section. I shook my head in disbelief at the encounter and turned my attention back to the screen. I tried to focus on the movie as Leatherface slaughtered a screaming girl, but I couldn't help thinking about Eddie. I could feel myself getting worked up about what he said about me and Steve again when he came back to the front and slammed his selection onto the counter.
I peered down at the cover of the video and blushed again when I read the title. Assablanca. A porno. Really? I looked back up at him to see a pleased look on his face. I rolled my eyes. He knew exactly what he was doing to me. My hands were shaking as I typed his name for the rental into the computer.
"This is one of my favorites," He grinned over at me, pointing down at the tape. I could tell he was getting pleasure from watching me get flustered. "You seen it?"
I shook my head no.
"Aw, well when you get off here you should come watch it with me," He teased, lightly chuckling. At this point, I'd had it. I slammed my hands down onto the counter, startling him with my abruptness.
