Y/N's POV
Friday, September 20, 1985.
We laid in his bed for a while, our chests heaving in sync and our sweaty bodies stuck together. I hummed in contentment, pleased to be so close to him, despite the stickiness of our clammy bodies making my skin crawl internally. After a few minutes, Eddie began squirming under me.
"No offense, but you need to get off of me. I'm gross right now," He groveled, attempting to sit up with me still on top of his chest.
"Yeah, I wasn't gonna say anything, but you don't smell the best right now," I chuckled as I peeled my skin off of his and laid back on the bed next to him. He furrowed his eyebrows and sucked his teeth in offense at me.
"I wouldn't talk if I were you. You desperately need a shower too, babes," He shook his head at me as he slid off the bed and stood up. I watched as his glistening frame walked out of the room and shortly after heard the shower start in the next room. I discreetly tried to smell myself and scrunched my nose. Eddie was right, I was absolutely ripe right now. I cringed at the thought of me laying all over him while I smelled like this. He reentered the room, leaning against the doorway and he raised his eyebrows at me expectantly. "You coming?"
"Oh, we're showering together?" I asked, sitting up and hugging the sheets over my chest.
"Why not? Saves water," He shrugged back at me. I'd never showered with someone before and the thought of doing so made me feel uneasy. My ex-boyfriend always tried to get me to shower with him, but I always said no, feeling insecure about my odd head shape. I looked at Eddie apprehensively, the thought of him seeing how unattractive I look when my hair is wet making me feel embarrassed. He raised an eyebrow at me. "Why are you making that face? It's not a big deal. I've seen you naked before."
"I look weird when my hair is wet," I argued. Eddie opened his mouth to protest, but I cut him off. "I literally like the cyclops from Homer's The Odyssey 1968 Miniseries when submerged in water. Trust me."
"What does that even mean?" He asked, scrunching his eyebrows.
"It means I have a big forehead and it's accentuated when my hair is wet, okay?" I threw my hands up in mock frustration. Eddie shook his head at me.
"I have a fat forehead too, so we'll be even," He chuckled before turning towards the bathroom again and waving his hand for me to follow. "Come on."
I sighed in defeat and slid off the bed. I covered my bare chest as I followed him to the bathroom, feeling uncomfortable walking through his house naked even though it was only the two of us there. I entered the bathroom behind him as the slight scent of stale mildew entered my nostrils. I tried to avoid looking at anything in there, as I knew my anxiety would spike if I saw how messy it was. However, my wandering eyes betrayed me and I caught a glimpse of the array of dampened towels and empty plastic bottles strewn across the floor. My skin began to crawl and my urge to deep clean his entire place intensified. Eddie stepped into the shower and held the curtain open slightly for me to come in. I joined him in the shower, standing out of the way of the water as he wet his hair. My eyes wandered around the small shower, looking for the shampoo and conditioner, but the only thing that was in there was a single bar of soap. I cringed once more.
"What now?" He asked, regarding my expression as he slicked his wet hair back. I realized that up until this point, I'd never seen his forehead. It wasn't that big.
"Where's the soap?" I silently prayed that maybe the shampoo and conditioner were behind him. He grabbed the bar of soap off of the shelf and put it in my hands. I looked back up at him with wary eyes, his expression oblivious to the problem here. "This is it? How do you wash your hair?"
