(14) Official Idiot

A few hours of talking went by, and you both started to get hungry. "Hey, we never got griffin eggs!" You said with a frown.

"We'll get them right now! C'mon, I saw another nest about 300 feet away." Hunter answered, walking out of the tent.

You followed him, but instead of following slightly behind, you ran up next to him and slipped your hand into his. It was a bold move, again, but you felt it was right. You looked over at him and his face looked like it was dipped in red paint.

You chuckled a little, and you both continued to walk to the griffin eggs. At one point, Jax flew over to you and sat on your shoulder, but after a few seconds of boredom, he flew away, screeching crazily. Hunter may not have been able to understand him, but you made a mental note to talk to him about his language later.

"Where is it?" Hunter asked himself, looking at the different trees in search of the nest.

"I don't know, but I'm freezing. Is it colder over here than back at the tent? It's literally been a minute!" You responded, wrapping your free arm around your waist.

Out of nowhere, Hunter let go of your hand, pulled you in by the waist, and hugged you. He held you tight, and you awkwardly wrapped your arms around his torso, before melting into his touch.

"What's this all about?" You asked with a weak laugh. It's hard to laugh when your lungs are icicles.

"Are you still cold?" He asked. It didn't make much difference, but you knew he was trying to make up for what he did, and you loved his hugs, so you lied and said yes.

"Good." He replied quietly.

After a a few minutes go by of you and Hunter just holding each other in the middle of a snow field, you felt yourself start to warm up a little. "What do you wanna do today?" You asked Hunter curiously, still happily embracing him.

"We can go over the plan in more detail when we get back to camp? That way we know for sure what we'll be doing." You agreed and you both let go, reluctantly of course, and got the griffin eggs. On your way back to the tent, You started going over it.

"Once Jax is willing to fly, we gather all of your friends, and The Owl Lady, and all those people. We bring them into the head, by you and the other illusion kid making us seem invisible." You nodded along, listening carefully to the plan.

"Then, I'll go to my uncle and start talking to him, trying to distract him. That's when the human-"

"Luz."

He rolled his eyes. "Right, Luz, whatever, that's when she attacks him with a fire spell. She can... do that.. right?" You smiled and nodded your head.

"While being burnt to a crisp, he'll probably order scouts to look for the attacker, and they'll all go searching for Luz. She'll tie them all up with vines, leaving Belos defenseless except for his staff! Once we get that away from him, it should be easy to defeat him!"

"Even once the staff is knocked out of his hand, he could still have some tricks up his sleeve. What if that happens?" You asked.

"We'll have someone for everything. Luz will distract and suspend, the illusion boy will trick and confuse, the youngest Blight will attack and grab, the plant girl will throw stuff and stab, The Owl Lady will turn into that Harpy, and who knows what she can do, the weird rat thing can use his voice powers, Owl Lady's sister can use glyphs for whatever she may need, I can be the one to help with whoever needs it, since I don't have magic and don't know any glyphs, and then there's you."

"Y/N, you have the most important job. Your magic is incredible, you're one of the most powerful witches I've ever even heard of. Use your bard magic, blast him with shockwaves. Use your illusion magic, change the entire room to somewhere he's unfamiliar with. Use your healing, help anybody who gets hurt. You're going to be the most important person out there!"

You smiled confidently, and gave him a hug, before finally reaching the tent. The nest ended up being further away than he had originally thought.

"Sounds great! Now we just need someone who's name starts with a J to do HIS job." You glared at Jax who was happily munching away at his ration of griffin egg.

After a quick snowball fight, a head cannon sesh over different characters from the shows you both watch, and a 20 questions game, you were both just about ready for dinner. Time seems to fly when you're freezing and in love.

"Oh my gosh.. I'm an idiot." You said, slapping your forehead.

"No you're not. What'd you do?" Hunter asked, taking your hand away from your now red forehead.

"Everybody that takes healing at Hexside is required to have a food crate stored at all times. I COULD HAVE SUMMONED MY CRATE 4 DAYS AGO." You groaned and summoned the crate, it hitting the ground with a thud.

Hunter pried it open with his hands, and you stared at them. You didn't find them weird, you thought that were adorable, and they all told a story of how brave Hunter really is. However, seeing real food snapped you out of your thoughts.

"BREAD!" You both shouted in unison, grabbing at the glutinous delight.

Time skip to when you both started to lay down.

"Hunter. Go to sleep. I'll be fine!!" You had been at this for 25 minutes now, and you didn't plan on giving up. You were laying down, and Hunter was still wide awake, sitting up next to the opening of the tent.

"Nope, I have to protect you. What if someone kidnapped you in your sleep?" He warned.

You rolled your eyes. "Who would want me anyways?" You scoffed. But, you got an idea and smirked a bit without him noticing. "You wanna protect me, huh Hunter?" You asked him. He nodded his head demandingly. "Then get your butt over here and protect me." You opened your arms, waiting for him to lay down with you.

"I- um- okay.." He said, shyly pulling you into a protective hug. He felt sleepiness overwhelm him quickly. He yawned in your ear, and you giggled with success. You both fell asleep in each other's arms, soft snores escaping Hunter's lips.

For the first night in forever, he fell asleep comfortably, and for the first night in forever, you slept without any nightmares.
