I set off with my ramshackle car and get on the street, which has been overdue for a long time. I don't think climbing and driving are good for my feet, because after only a short time I notice that my shoes are turning red from the inside.
That would also explain why Eddie had been staring at me so strangely. From the way he looked at my feet I assumed he had a foot fetish. Good to know that's not the case at least not this time.
That must have looked pretty disturbing to him. A student walks up to you with bloody feet and pretends as if it's the most normal thing in the world. In my defense, I only now noticed that.
It doesn't matter if I stop now or when I am at the shop. It's not even that far anymore, what difference would that make? Anyways I arrive at the store, grab my wallet and open the door to "Family Video" where I am greeted with bells ringing.
"Welcome how can I help you?" Robin says while turning to face me, "Oh Bora. You're later than expected. But I am glad you still made it! The fuck happened to your feet though?".
Leaning on the counter, she looks concerned at me. "Was kinda stuck on a tree... you know... Unfortunately, I couldn't get away because there were wild animals, wild boars, and I didn't want to sic them on me. Aggressive and really primitive animals but after a while they left... so everything worked out fine. The only thing is I landed on glass so that is that. Anyways the movies..." I tell her.
There is no need for her to know what really happened, she wouldn't believe me anyway. And the part about primitive animals wasn't completely made up.
A teenager my age sticks his head in the room, apparently trying to do something in the staff room while getting robin's attention "ROBIN! HAVE YOU SEen-... Robin, don't even try to keep the pretty customers to yourself. She doesn't swim in the same waters as you.".
She turns around and gives him an annoyed look. "You don't even know her. FYI we already know each other and I even wanted to introduce you so get your ass over here." she returns on which he drops whatever he was holding in that room and storms to us.
On closer inspection, he doesn't even look that bad. His hair is just fabulous like damn so much volume. I would describe it as a layered mullet with the longest part at the bottom of the neck area. The front hair is blow-dried back which gives him an extremely voluminous look. You can argue about his outfit though, very questionable. He wears a striped collared t-shirt and vest that probably comes with the store and his shirt is tucked into his jeans, which are adorned with a belt.
"So who is the pretty lady?" the hair asks.
"I am Bora and I do like boobies just like this hot chick here, but I am not her type. As you already should know judging by how Vickie looks, she is more into the soft nerdy type. In this direction I would rather not classify myself or how do you see it?". Steve looks at me shocked for a second but he recovers pretty quickly.
He turns to Robin and back to me while saying "Boobies it is then... I don't get it Robin she looks fine as hell and you drop her for Vickie? Well, to each his own.".
Completely perplexed and disturbed by our conversation, Robin composes herself before starting to speak "I am not sure how this escalated so quickly. First of all, didn't we talk about merging to solve our problems and now you are flaming me, the fuck. Second thing, both of you stop saying boobies that's disgusting and embarrassing. And besides, Vickie is great, she's just perfect and while I have to agree with you Harrington that Bora looks amazing, I see her as a newfound friend and it's not just looks that count, got it?"
Our heads begin to nod and we agree to put Robin's love life aside for now.
"So the movies. Where do I find horror movies? Freddy, Child's Play, The Fly...oh and The Shining" I come back to the topic I actually came here for. "Oh yeah right you're here for the movie night. Let's see. Follow me. I am pretty sure we have A Nightmare on Elm Street and The Shining, not so sure about the rest though." I keep following Robin as she walks through the ails and gives me the movies she found.
Steve tips on my shoulder from behind and holds the Child's Play box in front of me. Smiling I thank him for the thoughtfulness and turn back to robin who has made a turn in the meantime and is on the other side of the store now.
To get back to her I have to squeeze past the Hair to which I whisper while our lungs are crushed by our adjacent bodies and shelves in the back "You know I flow both ways. But don't get your hopes up. Got it, Hair?". I leave a confused Harrington behind with flushed cheeks but that's not really concerning me. Rather is the amount of movies Robin is picking out for me.
"Robin chill, I only need about 9 movies and you alone are holding 13. I actually wanted to get other genres as well." I notify her while putting the ones in her hands back on the shelf. "Oh my God, so sorry. I am just excited and want to make you happy, so you come back, maybe hang out with us and I kinda feel like I need to compensate for what Steve is doing right now which is nothing. Being completely useless actually. Please don't hate us.".
I am touched. You rarely meet someone as honest as she is and then also as lovable so if Vickie doesn't want her I don't know what to do either. I just want to cuddle her and tell her everything is gonna be okay. Instead, I pet her head and tell her that I would never do such thing.
"The Hair is kind of funny and you are my only friend here so why would I abandon you guys? To hang out with Jason or the other cheerleader? No thank you.". She looks at me with soft puppy eyes. "Anyways...ehm...could you bring me Dead Poets Society, Heathers, and The Breakfast Club to the register so I can pay and get going I still need to make popcorn and milkshakes." I explain.
I don't get a clear answer but her hurried rush from on to the next shelf tells me that she will do me the favor. At the checkout, Harrington scans each film and, on robin's instructions, gives me a $10 friend discount. Which leaves me with $23. Expensive enough but a lot cheaper than if I had to buy all the films new and couldn't borrow them.
Steve and Robin are still waving at me from the shop window as I get in the car and head out into the street. They are cute. Like an old married couple just with different sexualities.
