Frank had been Frank all his life. As a kid, a teenager, and then into adulthood. His family all knew him as Frank as did his friends and colleagues. Then, one day, he decided he had enough of Frank and changed his name to Steve.
"Hi, Frank," they would say.
"I'm Steve now," he would correct them.
Steve never provided a reason for the name change, nor did he particularly care to explain why. It took some getting used to. Most people didn't understand. But that didn't matter. He was Steve now and would be until the day he died.
