"Yeonjun?" came the soft voice of Byungho after he knocked three times on his son's door.

Immediately, Yeonjun slid his chemistry book over the drawing pad, smashed the pencil into the corner of his desk, and uttered a soft, "Yes?" He still hadn't shown his father any of his drawings, and that wasn't likely to change anytime soon.

His fingers clutched at the book and as the door opened, Yeonjun looked up at him.

"Are you coming for breakfast?" asked Byungho quietly.

You could tell the single father was having a hard time seeing his son suffer like this. While he hadn't really commented on how he felt about the relationship between the two stepbrothers, Yeonjun's well-being was his first priority.

"In a minute," Yeonjun replied to him, but the expression on his face said something rather different. He had actually hoped he wouldn't have to eat breakfast with the others if he stayed in the room after getting up. But that had probably gone wrong, and his father's uncertain look also made him so nervous that he unceremoniously pushed himself off the desk, thus making the chair squeak loudly. "I'm coming."

But Byungho raised his hand and stopped his son, shaking his head afterwards.

"I'll pack you breakfast, just don't be late coming down to leave, okay?" he suggested to his son, his face contorting with a soft sigh.

Yeonjun pressed his lips together.

Of course, it was not lost on him that Byungho was pretty depressed about the whole thing and he was really trying to be a good father, but it was just difficult when Yeonjun just didn't get along with his partner.

And this time, there were even reasons.

"Thanks," Yeonjun grumbled, dropping back into the desk chair. But at that moment, he remembered the little girl who lived here with them and missed her brother just as much. He could already see her friendly smile in front of his eyes, hear the giggles and he didn't want her to know how he was. So he rose for the second time and said, "I'll come down, but .... About Hanseo."
