With a warm feeling in his stomach, Yeonjun arrived home, completely immersed in thoughts of the upcoming weekend. He was truly grateful that his friends were thinking of him, and as he unlocked the front door, he still had a smile on his lips. While it wasn't really that great here in the house for the smile to last, he felt better than the months before.

Quiet voices could be heard in the living room and he wondered if his father would really call him on the detention and especially the beating.

Or would he keep it quiet?

But his father had heard him come through the front door and before he could see his son, his father's voice rang out, "Yeonjun? The school called."

Damn.

He had hoped his father wouldn't bring it up.

Hissing, Yeonjun brushed his shoes off his feet and trudged into the living room toward the voice. His father was sitting on the couch, while Jaeyi had seemingly made a break for it. Presumably to check on their daughter. Byungho, on the other hand, turned to his son and froze for a moment.

"Oh. New hair," commented completely flustered, "what's the occasion?"

Yeonjun shrugged and gave a hum. "Fresh start?" he muttered, making it sound like a question, then walked towards the sofa where his father was sitting. "I wanted something different."

Byungho nodded and the corners of his mouth twitched briefly before he tried to look serious again. "The school called me today. Why did you get into a fight?"

Sighing, Yeonjun had to face this conversation, sinking down onto the padding and bracing his elbows on his knees. He thought about how to explain the situation to his father so that he would understand, but it was hard to find the words. "That guy I hit," he began, then, chewing on his lower lip, pulling it between his teeth again and again as if it would calm him down, "it's Beomgyu's fault he went to the hospital. He deserved it."

"But you know that's not a solution. Even if he deserved it, Beomgyu won't come back home as long as ...", the man fell into silence, knowing that this topic was very sensitive for his son.
