After Jaeyi had not been able to reach the two runaway children, she had gone to the police after all. She would have listened to Byungho, but she couldn't shake the feeling that they weren't with their friends. For that reason, they had gone to the police that same evening and filed a missing person's report. After that, they had both driven around the city, hoping that maybe they could pick up Beomgyu and Yeonjun from the street. But by four in the morning, the couple had had no luck and they had arrived home completely exhausted.

Finally, Jaeyi had also called her ex-husband and explained the situation to him. The latter had agreed to come from Daegu to Seoul to help with the search.

And Jaeyi had accepted the offer.

The next morning, the worried mother of two went to Yewon's house and rang the doorbell. There she was granted entry by Yewon's father and entered the house. The tremor in her voice ensured that Yewon and her mother also appeared in the hallway.

"Have-you...seen Beomgyu?" inquired Jaeyi stutteringly, reaching tremulously for Yewon's father's hand.

The families had known each other for a long time, had a certain familiarity with each other, so Jaeyi looked to them especially for support. The two parents shook their heads, all faces falling on Yewon. Caught, those inhaled and then began to fiddle nervously with her T-shirt. "He was here yesterday, but we argued and then he just ran away. I haven't heard from him since."

Jaeyi whimpered softly, her worry for her son growing, and the fact that Beomgyu had probably had a fight with his best friend as well frightened her.

"Beomgyu and Yeonjun ran away yesterday," she now informed Yewon's parents. "And haven't come home since. They're not answering their cell phones either. I've already gone to the police, but I was really hoping they'd be here." Her trembling hands still clung to Yewon's father, but she seemed on the verge of breaking down, so the girl's mother went to the distraught woman and held her by the shoulders.

"This is terrible, Jaeyi," she said with compassion. "Of course we would offer you our help, my dear. We will help you in your search."

"That goes without saying," the father also said, while Yewon looked at the woman in shock. She cupped her hands in front of her mouth and her eyes wandered tremblingly over their faces.
