Hallie Jane
I woke up several times throughout the night, once when I had to pee, another time when I had a nightmare about my parents and woke up in a cold sweat, waking Austin up too, and then again when he left for his interview. He came over and gave me a kiss goodbye, making me jump awake by his soft voice.
"Bye, i'll be back later. There's a key on the counter if you need it. Have fun at lunch." He said. "Bye, good luck at your interview." I said. "Thank you." He said, smiling and walking out of the bedroom door. I rolled back over into the cold bed and drifted off to sleep.
I woke back up to my alarm a couple hours later and started getting ready. My eyes were half closed and my depth perception was off when I was trying to pick things up, because of the bright bathroom lights. I managed to brush my teeth with one eye closed and the other half closed. The lights were too bright for me to be functioning right now. I managed to slowly get both eyes open, and I could start doing my hair and makeup. When I was done I went to the closet to pick out something to wear, I decided on an all black outfit with a pop of color in my purse. When I was done I grabbed the small silver key off the counter and slipped it into my purse, and then left. I was gonna stop by a store and grab a dress I wanted before I met Olivia at lunch.
I walked out of the building and down the street. Every time I rounded a corner I could see a car following me. I noticed it a couple blocks back, but I was in a country I wasn't familiar with and didn't know what to do. I finally reached the store and walked inside. Pushing the sunglasses off of my face and into my hair once I made it inside. I saw the dress I wanted and grabbed it off the rack, taking it to the counter. I paid for the dress and watched as they put it in a brown paper bag with tissue paper coming out of the top.
I pushed my glasses onto my face and stood by the door waiting to go out until the last possible minute. I looked around to see if the car was parked outside and It definitely was. I looked down at my phone dialing Olivia's number when I heard the shop door open. I moved out of the way and glanced up at the person walking in. "Oh, I-I'm sorry." I stuttered out. The woman had short blonde hair, and sunglasses over her eyes but her face was so familiar. So close to home to me.
So much like my mothers.
I couldn't even finish the text message I was typing, I bolted out the door and ran right into someone, as I stumbled onto the sidewalk. "Oh my god. Im so sorry." I said, looking up. "Woah are you okay?" Austin asked. "What are you doing here? I-I'm okay." I said. "You're shaking. What's going on?" He asked. I turned around and looked at the car that was parked on the curb a few feet behind us. "Uh, Keep walking." I said. "Please explain what's happening." He said. "That car has been following me since I left your apartment this morning, and I swear a woman with my moms exact face but different hair and a little skinnier walked into that store. That's why I came out like that, I was so shocked. I never got to here her voice but she looked dead at me, and I said I was sorry for being in front of the door when she was trying to come in." I said. "That black car back there?" He asked, looking over his shoulder. "Yeah." I said.
"It's so weird. Why did she look like my mom? and why is this car following me?" I asked. "Like should I ask them, I don't know what's happening, people don't know who I am enough for it to be some stalker or a paparazzi, and I haven't even been with you long enough today to draw attention to that." I added. "Calm down, take a breath it's okay." He said pulling me into him on the sidewalk. "I'm on the way to a photoshoot and just so happened to be on that street. That's why I was there." He said. "Everything's gonna be okay, that car will go away, it's probably just paparazzi. That woman might have looked like your mom but it could've just been a coincidence. You saw them after it happened. I don't mean this in a bad way, but you know they're gone." He said. I sighed, my hands still shaking. "You're right. It could've even been my mind just playing games on me." I said. "After your nightmare last night, anything's possible." He said.
