Hallie Owens
Today's the day of Sarah's wedding. The day we've been planning for months, maybe even a year.
"Have you seen my jewelry for today? I should've been leaving 20 minutes ago." I yelled through the apartment. "Baby it's already in your bag. You packed it last night remember?" Austin said casually walking into the room. "No I don't. oh my god I'm so stressed. I can't handle this." I said, scanning the room one last time.
The wedding was in San Fransisco since all of Sarah's family was here. It was nice being in San Fran. I haven't been here since spring break in college. Me and Austin were staying in the cutest Air Bnb. Seriously if I lived here I'd offer to buy this place.
I grabbed everything and walked outside to throw it in the car. "Okay. I'll see you in a couple hours! I love you." I said kissing Austin before jumping into the car. "I love you! See you soon. Take deep breaths. It's gonna be beautiful. Tell Sarah I kept you here and that's why you're late." He said, winking at me. "Yeah yeah." I said laughing as I pulled out of the small driveway.
I headed down the road and to the venue. When I pulled up I took my first trip to the bridal suite, bringing in my dress and some other necessities i'd need for the day. "I'm sorry i'm late. I'm here finally." I said walking in the door. "I was starting to thing you were gonna be the one leaving me at the alter." Sarah joked. She was sitting on the couch drinking an energy drink while her sister was getting her hair done. "Hey samantha!" I said. "Hey Hallie." She smiled at me from around the corner. "First off. I'd never leave you." I said. "I know! Do you need help bringing anything in?" She asked. "Sure!" I said.
We walked back to the car. "Are you nervous?" I asked. "Kinda. But i'm so ready to just get the stress from this over with. I feel like I haven't slept since your birthday." She said. I nodded. "Me either." I said. I handed her some snacks and a bottle of champagne, while I grabbed the rest of the things and kicked the door shut with my ankle. "Don't tell Austin I did that. He'll kill me." I said. "Yeah right. He'd let you do anything." She said. "And he has." I joked, my mind went straight to the gutter on that one. She laughed as we put everything inside and on the counters. "Hallie you're up for makeup whenever you're ready." The makeup artist said. "Coming!" I said taking my mimosa I made with me to the chair. "I'm so excited. I thought this day would never come." Sarah said plopping back down on the couch. "I'm so happy for you." I said. "Now it's your turn." She said. "We're too busy right now." I said. Basically using the same excuse Austin used that night on the balcony. "Why do you think that?" She said. "Oh come on. I know you've seen the ring. It's gonna happen eventually." I said. Her eyes got wide. "How do you know that?" She asked. "I wasn't actually asleep that night. I heard everything. But you don't know that." I said. "Scouts honor." She said.
She gave me the look,The Sarah Hall look. "What?!" I asked. "Dude.. You're one lucky girl that's all I gotta say." She said. "Stop. I don't wanna know details. I wanna be surprised." I said. "You'll be surprised alright." She said.
When my makeup was done, It was time for my hair. Me and Samantha switched spots. "How's life been for you?" I asked Samantha. "Not too bad. I just got into NYU so I'll be in New York in the fall." She said. "I thought you were at UCLA?" I asked. "I was. But my major is no longer offered there and I've decided I want to get into fashion." She said. "A girl after my own heart." I said. "NYU is great. I've heard amazing things about their fashion program." I said. "Me too. I'm super excited. I'm gonna come there in a couple months and start looking for apartments." She said. "Ugh I wish you could be in the same building as us." I said. "Me too.. Maybe in a few years. My bank account is not set up for that life of luxury yet." She said. I laughed.
Samantha has been like another sister to me for a long time. She did a lot of study abroad things in high school though so I haven't actually seen her in forever besides the bachelorette trip and the rehearsal dinner last night. She's like wicked smart and has done tons of volunteer work. I always thought she'd go into Law or something like that because of the smarts and how hard she worked on her college applications and essays. "Garrett said he was going to get Austin so they could ride together. There's no point in having two cars here for you guys." Sarah said. "Okay! That way I can get drunk tonight and Austin can drive me home." I laughed. "Exactly." Sarah said.
