notes:
I don't really feel like notes are needed for this one since it's easy to figure out, but, in this little one shot universe, instead of Eddie, Robin died. Or at least they thought she did. Basically, hawkins lab got back together to help the crew stop everything once and for all. this is kinda a season 5 thing i guess?? overall, Nancy and Robin had something going on before Robin's death, and when she died, Nance was torn. Until, after the final battle, Robin came into her life again.

Nancy stared blankly at the floor in Steve's house. Had it been one- no.. maybe two hours ago her, Steve, and their other friends had arrived there, cold, scared, and soaked from the rainstorm. There was no doubt, their battle was over. But at what cost? They had lost so much already. So much that Nancy hardly even wanted to help this time. I mean what's the point if everything you've ever wanted was taken away from you? First it was Barb back in freshman year, then she broke up with Steve, then Jonathan told her he didn't want to go to college with her (as well as broke up with her), and then she lost her.

Nancy couldn't even cry, this was awful. Like a dam. She was so hurt right now, she felt so hopeless. As they finally closed the upside down for good, ended it all, Nancy lost apart of her. Because she knew that in that cold and wet place below, lied two of the people who gave her the most out of life. And now they were gone.

It had been one year exactly since she had seen Robin. Her beautiful eyes, smile, hair. She couldn't even remember that day much, really. Nobody even saw Robin die. She just never came back. They just assumed. What if she really was alive back there.. And they all just what..? Left her?!

The last private interaction the two had, was one of the most special moments between the two. Everyone of the people in their friend group could clearly tell Robin and Nancy were spending more and more time together, so, it was so surprise when they confessed their feelings for eachother the night before the battle. They even kissed. And until their last moments together, they refused to be apart.

There was something bittersweet about it all to Nancy, for some reason, she just felt numb. She couldn't will herself to cry or feel emotion anymore. It just couldn't happen. Was she not meant to have anyone close to her?! Why is it that she scared everyone away? She felt like a monster, The true villain of everything. Nancy knew she shouldn't blame this on herself but she couldn't help it, she really couldn't.

Nancy gasped as she snapped out of her thoughts whenever Steve was snapping a finger in front of her. "You okay, Nance?" He asked, sympathy painted all over his tone. "Fine." Nancy whispered, looking away from Steve. "You want to talk about it? Even if you don't, I think it'd make you feel better."

Nancy hesitated for a moment before she agreed. "The Hawkins lab said they could be able to find her or bring her back or- or something. Why was I so hopeful Steve?!? I knew that it was a lie. Everything they've ever done is such bullshit!" Nancy then received a worried look from Steve. "We don't know what they've been working on, she could be alive Nancy. I think you know good and well that we both loved her more than anything. And we want nothing more than to have her back."

"I was in love with her, Steve. The feelings I had towards her were stronger than any emotion I think I had ever felt towards anyone. She just had this- this spark. Jesus Christ I loved it. If I could go back and switch our places you best believe that I would in a heartbeat." Steve nodded, sitting beside Nancy as the two sat in comfortable silence. (as comfortable as it could get)

The two were lost in thought for a moment before they were startled by the sound of honking outside Steve's house. Steve and Nancy both stared an anxious glance before they went outside to see what the fuss was about.

"Hawkins lab?" Steve muttered under his breath in a confused tone. Nancy felt her breath shaking. Was Steve right earlier?! No, Nance. Stop. She's gone. Everything felt so fuzzy to her right now. She watched Steve walk over to the van to talk to the people inside, she even saw the back doors to the van open. Normally, of course, Nancy would have probably been by Steve's side figuring out what was happening but she felt stuck. Like she couldn't move. Something felt different.

Once Nancy finally snapped out of her daze, she couldn't believe what she saw. "R-Robin?" Nancy asked in a glossy voice, almost unsure sounding. Robin stepped forward, making eye contact with Nancy. It was her. She was back, she was safe. She was okay. She didn't even look hurt! "H-Hi, Nance." Robin muttered in a whisper, a slow smile starting to appear on her face.

Suddenly, it felt like Nancy couldn't take it anymore. All the tears she had been holding back had finally released as she ran into Robin's arms. "W-Woah!! Careful, my shoulder is hurt." Robin whispered as she felt Nancy sobbing into her chest. Had she really hurt her this badly? Nancy was holding her so tight, she couldn't will herself to let go. Not now, not ever. Not again.

Robin brought her hand up to Nancy's hair and scrunched it lightly. "This can't be real." Nancy managed to say through her sobs. Robin then took Nancy and gently pulled her back, allowing the two to be face to face. "I probably look awful right now- but- uhm- I'm here. I'm okay, I promise. I'm not going anywhere EVER again." Robin firmly reassured as she felt Nancy's had caress her cheek.

Nancy then gave Robin the sweetest gaze. Something so gentle, so loving, generally just so pure. The two slowly inched closer more and more until they found themselves kissing. Nancy never thought that she would ever feel Robin's lips on hers again, and the fact that she was now filled a hole that had numbed her for a long while. She finally felt safe again.

After the two pulled away from their kiss, Nancy smiled warmly at Robin as she started wiping her tears. "I'm sorry that I'm crying- I just never thought that I would see you again.." Robin smiled, kissing Nancy's forehead. "Don't be sorry, Nance. Your feelings are valid, especially right now."

Nancy felt a blush lightly sting her face as she stepped forward and hugged Robin again, this time much more gentle than the first. "I-" Nancy started, backing away after a few seconds to look Robin in the eye again. "This is going to sound so silly- I knew you for such a short time... But I missed you forever."

That sentence was all it took out of Nancy for Robin to tear up as well. "Aww, Nance. I missed you too. You have NO idea how much I wanted to be with you."
"You're not going anywhere this time right?"
"No!"
"Promise?"
"I promise."
Nancy smiled. "You must be so tired I'm really sorry we're out here like this- do you want to go inside maybe or-" Robin scoffed "Me being tired? Nance, do you not recall the amazing things you did today because I sure do. Well- no- I cant recall them I wasn't there for them but I remember being told them nonetheless."

Nancy laughed, shaking her head. "I love you, Robin." Robin felt her face heat up instantly "I love you too!!" the two kissed once more before heading inside Steve's house together, awaiting Steve to finally come in with them. For the first time in quite literally a whole year, Nancy didn't feel obligated to put on a fake smile. It was genuine this time. She was finally safe. Finally with her.
