notes: after 2 years apart due to the events of season 4, the girls had made a pact to continue their relationship after everything was over. Robin and Nancy finally reunite after everything ends.

"I really do love you." Nancy whispers gently to Robin, running her fingers through Robin's soft hair. "But we have a very long few months ahead of us. Don't you think maybe we should wait until we can just... Focus on this? Us?"
Robin feels her heart drop, however, she knew Nance was right. So, she nods hesitantly. "I... I- Nance- I don't want this... But- guess so, yeah. We both know you have more brains than most of Hawkins combined and I-"
"Honey."
"Sorry.."
and with that, the girls pinkie promised and said their last I love you's.

Robin's eyes fluttered open. Where was she?? Wait... That's right! Yesterday, Robin, Nancy, Steve, and the rest of the crew had finally ended all of the mayhem in Hawkins. They were free, they were safe. Safe feels like a stretch though... Are they really? There was no telling. Half of their friends were either severely injured or.. dead. Sorry Will.(a prediction idk)

Robins gaze traveled over to one of the many photos sat delicately, and neatly, on her nightstand. Which so happened, was one of Nancy's photos. She smiled, feeling a sense of guilt and heartbreak over what could've been all that time ago. (i'm going to say roughly two years.) Robin often looked over at her photos of Nance and romanticized a world in her head where her and Nancy didn't have to part ways. Where everything was okay.

But then, she remembered.

"Holy shit."

"Holy shit!"

Robin jumps out of bed with more energy than she must've had since at LEAST middle school, dashing to her bathroom. She pokes at her face for a moment, almost in complete disbelief that this is even real. I mean, it did feel real. Until she was reminded of the promise that her and Nancy had made. Then... well yes duh, Robin felt like she was dreaming. But! She wasn't.

Robin brushed her hair, which had grown out quite more than she would like. It barely just passed her shoulders now, which wasn't a hairstyle Robin had worn since she was a little girl. She sighed, brushing it out gently. To be fair, who could possibly bother to get a haircut when your own life is at stake? Not Robin. She was too much of a worry machine for that.

After getting dressed in *decent* looking clothes, Robin looked at herself in her mother's cheap mirror from the local K-mart. She debated calling Steve, Max, someone, anyone. But instead of panicking (as she always does.), Robin simply grabbed the keys to her mother's car, and left.

Although they've been battling actual demons the last two years, it has almost felt peaceful to Robin. During the "earthquake", Robin's mother had gone missing. Robin and Steve theorized that she had just left for ransom, she never really cared much over Rob anyways. Ever. So, Robin has lived alone, in a small double-wide. In complete peace. There was only one thing missing.

the only girl who would even convince Robin to stay in this junkyard of a town.

Robin was a skilled driver, although she didn't have her license. She fearlessly drives about, knowing good and well that the police department of Hawkins is more focused on finding a coverup for the disaster that was the battle they fought rather than a 19 year old dorky teenager who was driving around perfectly fine. However, she does have to be very careful. The border between the upside down and the earth was crumbling. She could easily just sink into the vine covered abyss.

After roughly a 20 minute, very slow drive, Robin arrived at the wheeler residence. Which was... broken. Nancy's parents were fighting, Holly was now officially old enough to comprehend the battle, and.. well... Mike never really spoke to anyone after Will's death about a month ago.

"I never even got a chance to tell him how I felt."

Robin vaguely remembers Mike whispering through his tears as he held Will's cold, limp body.

So, to say that Robin was nervous to enter such a broken home was an understatement. Sure, she grew up in a broken home herself.. But it had always been just Robin and her drunk, hooker of a mother.

Robin walked delicately up to the front door of the house. She took a breath. All it would take was one knock and a few words, and her whole life could flip around. Or.. What if Nancy didn't want Robin anymore? What if Nancy became the one that got away? Robin lifted her scarred, freckled, and very shaky hand to the door. Time to knock, right?

It's so easy Robin, move your hands.

...

Robin, it has been 5 minutes, you need to-

And then, the door opened.

Robin looked up, locking eyes with the girl who was her first everything. With the girl who stole her heart just with her annoyed glare. Nancy Wheeler. "H-Hey-!" Robin started, choking on her dry throat. Nancy's eyes softened, and suddenly, everything around the two girls had vanished. The battle, the death, the loss. In this moment, it was just them. "Robin.." Nancy whispered, stepping outside and shutting the door behind her.

Robin tries to form words, but they don't come. She can't even manage to make a sound, she just stands there with her jaw agape. At least her arms know what to do. Some may call it muscle memory.

Robin wraps her arms around Nancy, taking in the sweet scent of her hair. She smiles. For the first time in two years, Robin genuinely smiles. Nancy smiles too.

They pull away, and finally, the floodgate releases.

"Nancy, I love you. I- I mean- I-uh- I missed you. Do- Do you remember our promise?? I mean, I really hope so, because, I never ever forgot. I've been waiting for you every day and I-"

"Honey." Nancy interrupts, gently grabbing her lover's face and caressing it.

Robin's cheeks simply flush, and she smiles. "Yeah..?"

Nancy smiles ever so warmly, pulling Robin in for the most lustful and sweetest kiss the two have ever, ever, shared.

A few moments passed before the girls pulled away. Nancy's hands were now gently wrapped around Robin's neck, and Robin's on her waist.

"I never forgot us, I love you too."
