"It's not like I'm in love with her yet we only-"
"Fooled around a couple thousand times?" Steve asked in a tease as the two entered the doors of starcourt mall, smirking at his best friend who had just began dating one of the most popular girls in Hawkins a couple months beforehand. "Steve, stop. I haven't even..."

"You haven't even what, Rob?"
"I haven't even talked to her in a week or so." Robin admitted in a mutter, starting to get anxious at the thought. "Well- Why don't you talk to her then??" Steve asked bluntly, not understanding his best friend. "Because, Steve, we got in a fight."

"Oh damn what was it over?" Steve asked as the two made a sharp turn, now being faced with a huge crowd of people. And, god, was the sound fucking horrendous. Robin hissed lightly, covering her ears at the ringing sensation of the echoes. "You okay?"
"Mhm.." Robin whispered, taking her hands down slowly and taking a deep breath. "I just wasn't paying much attention to the sound before this and now we're at the base of it and it shocked me a little."

Steve nodded understandingly. "Okay, if you're sure. But uh, I hope you don't mind me bringing this back up, but what caused you two to fight?"
"Oh, right... S-Sorry"  Robin started. "Jonathan was trying to get in contact with her I guess and she was super pissed about it and I tried to help b-but I couldn't find the right words, Steve. I ended up saying something so wrong instead of right and she got super mad at me and told me she wished she never dated me and that she wished she was into guys again and all that and once she r-realized what she said she tried to apologize i'm pretty sure but I had already ran off a-and.."

"Robin, chill out, please. You're crying." Steve calmly said as he stopped walking and turned to face Robin, wiping some of her tears with his sleeve. "I don't want to go to work today there's so many people here I'm so exhausted, I- I mean I've barely slept."

"You can just chill in the back if you want but we have to stick around for at least a little, you know that."
"o-okayyy.."

"Is that why the sound is bothering you so much? Because you're already upset as it is? Since working here you've become accustomed to it nicely, at least that's what I thought.." Steve asked as the two proceeded to walk, now taking a sharp left into scoops ahoy. "Mhm.." Robin whispered, entering the back of the shop the second she clocked in.

As the hours passed, and more of a crowd started to build, Steve was hearing less and less from Robin, whom was still sitting in the back. He sighed, about to give in and close up, not being able to maintain the crowd alone, before a certain someone walked into the shop. Steve looked up blatantly, blinking a couple times. "Nancy?"

"Hey.. I-Is Is she here?" Nancy asked nervously, rubbing her arm in attempt to calm herself. "Yes but... She's.. Not doing so hot with the crowd today." Steve admitted, turning the sign that said open to closed.

"Oh.. Is she-"
"No, Nance I don't think she's too alright but by the sounds of it I don't really think you care too much."
"What?! You know good and well that I do!"
"Then why the fuck would you say that to her."

Nancy sighed. "I was upset, and wasn't paying attention to my words. I didn't mean to, and I feel awful. Please just let me see her, Steve." Steve shrugged. "Fine, just be quiet, she's had to deal with the background sound of loud noises all day."

Nancy nods, entering the back of the counter and approaching the door to the back room. "I really hope you can calm her down." Steve muttered to himself as he watched Nancy enter the room, shutting the door behind her.

Nancy looked down at the floor, seeing Robin curled with her knees to her chest, her head resting on her knees. She wasn't even in her work clothes, which meant she hadn't even tried at all today.

Nancy quietly stepped forwards to Robin, going down and sitting on her knees. She brought her hand up to Robins hair and scrunched it a bit to get her attention. Robin jumped, looking up at Nancy with wide eyes. "Hey, calm down it's just me. Is everything alright?" Nancy asked, giving Robin a very gentle gaze. Robin shook her head no before breaking the eye contact with Nancy.

"Rob.."

...

"Listen, I didn't mean anything that I said that night. I was upset, and pissed. Because Jonathan was saying the most horrible things about you but then you said something so silly about it all and it made me so mad because you had no idea about the shit I have been getting from people for dating you but to be honest I don't care at all. Not anymore. I-"

Robin looked at Nancy finally, awaiting her to finish her sentence. "I love you. Like I seriously genuinely love you so much and I just want you to be okay."

"Shut up." Robin whispered finally, pulling herself forwards and kissing Nancy. This caused Nancy to smile brightly as she melted into the kiss, crawling forwards onto Robins lap.

As she two broke apart, they stayed close together for the next couple of minutes. In eachothers arms. "Did my calming down work?" Nancy asked in a tease, making a pouting face to Robin. "Yes.." Robin answered, giggling. "Steve already closed the shop so do you maybe wana go-"

"Yes please." Robin answered. "I'd love to go home. With you." Nancy smiled. "I was hoping you'd say that, let's go." Nancy whispered, standing up and grabbing Robin's hand as she helped her stand up as well.

"I love you too, by the way." Robin admitted, smiling at Nancy sleepily. Nancy smiled back, intertwining their fingers as they began to leave.
