Nancy lied on her bed, staring up at the ceiling. One month. It had been one full month since that night. The night she made the decision that would changer her life. The decision to speak with Robin again. They weren't back together though, and after that night, the kiss they shared was never spoke of again. But the tension the two felt between the other was strong, luminescent. The feeling of still being desperately in love.. But every move towards her felt like a jab in the chest. It was awful. Nancy hated it.
Yet somehow, someway. She still agreed to this idiocy. And now she's finding herself waiting for Robin to walk into her room. They've hung out since that night, sure, but they haven't been alone since. Nancy threw her hands over her face suddenly, this was a disaster.
After a couple moments, the girl of the hour arrived. As giddy and happy as ever. But that's just Robin. Well, she's not fully Robin right now. She's still healing. But when it comes to Nancy, the old energy still finds its way to surge back to her somehow. "Nancyyyy!!" Robin exclaimed, barging through the bedroom door and hopping on top of Nancy, hugging her. Nancy quickly sat up to allow Robin to hug her, smiling as she smelled Robin's scent.
"Hi, Robin"
"Hi! I missed you a lot, thanks for asking me to stay!!" Robin thanked, gliding her ocean blue eyes around Nancy's room quickly. "This place didn't change much, still the same Nancy I dated not too long ago, huh.""It's only been a year." Nancy corrected, watching as Robin walked over to look at the small photos on the side of Nancy's vanity mirror. Photos of them. Robin smiled. "That's cute"
Nancy rolled her eyes, looking down with a blush. After hearing no sound for a moment, Robin turned around and quickly jumped back into Nancy's arms, knocking her over this time, now looking as if she was pinning her down. "What's wrong?"
"N-Nothing-"
"No, something is definitely wrong, what's up? You helped me greatly when I was down, now it's my turn."
"Robin.." Nancy started, making eye contact with Robin. "It's just that-"Robin raised an eyebrow, awaiting Nancy's continue. "Nothing." Nancy whispered, her expression becoming quite lustful, sending a chill down Ro's spine. "I- Ok.."
After that, not much more was said. The two girls, except for Nancy, had mainly forgotten about the mishap. They had spent their time talking about various things. Memories, Steve, hawkins. Bringing back a taste of senior year, the whole school year the two spent together, deeply in love. Something that now was far out of reach, yet so close.
"Hey, you wana go out? Like drive off somewhere for fun?" Nancy asked Robin, staring out her window. Robin, whom was across the room playing with Nancy's makeup brushes, quickly turned to face her ex, smiling. "You mean like- sneaking out like we used to?"
Nancy nods, taking her keys out of her pocket and swinging them a couple times. Robin squeals, quickly sitting the brushes back down in their holder, running over to Nancy's window "No shit!" She exclaimed, opening the window and hopping out quickly
"Jeez, you must have been real bored huh." Nancy sarcastically commented, swinging her legs over and sitting on the window seal. She looked down, wrapping her arms around Robin's neck gently. There it was, eye contact. So many memories rushed between the two as they stared. Nancy sighs hopelessly, lightly leaning onto Robin and taking a deep breath.
Robin felt a blush heat her cheeks as she smiled gently. A warm feeling flew through her as she brought her grasp to Nancy's waist. She picked Nancy up off the window, sitting her down onto the roof, not letting go of her waist. Nancy did the same, remaining contently snuggled into Robin.
Time stopped solemnly, this moment was perfect. "U-Uhm- Nancy, I have to close the uh- The wi- The-"
"The window?" Nancy interrupted, snickering. "Y-Yeah.." Robin replied, flustered. Nancy pulled away, bringing her hands down to her waist and gently taking Robin's off of her, intertwining their fingers instead. She bit down on her lip, clearing her throat and stepping out of the way for Robin to shut the window. After shutting the window, the two made their way to Nancy's car quickly, not wasting a second. Robin watched as Nancy started the car. "So... Where are we going?"
"Anywhere. Maybe uhm... Hm."Robin gasps
"The library?"
"Library? Are you stupid? It's closed."
"Yeah and? Sitting in the parking lot of the place I first realized I liked you in with you with me sounds pretty okay."
Nancy smiles, starting to back up. "It's settled then, I suppose."
-
The two had quite a silent ride there, still not speaking of their kiss. Nor their feelings. But something was there, that was undeniable. Once Nancy pulled into the parking lot, she sat quietly and still for a moment. Robin joining her.
.
.
."Wana get out?"
"Yeah"
The two got out of the car, sitting down on the stairs of the library, the rest of Hawkins could be seen just to their right. The air was so cool, yet so warm. This moment, to Nancy's image, was beautiful. Robin sighed contently, looking down at her no longer bandaged but still pretty beat up wrist. She gave a discouraged face as she reminisced on the whole reason she had hurt herself in the first place.
She softly turned to look at Nancy as she gently placed her hand on Nancy's thigh. "Nancy.." it was time. "Yeah?"
"I think we should maybe..."
"Talk about us?"
"Y-Yeah.."
"I think we should too." Nancy agreed, turning to look at Robin. "B-But first... I just want to let you know that the kiss we shared that night meant the world to me and I swear it wasn't just me trying to get you to calm down-"
Robin scoffs "I'd hope so. But uhm.. Listen, Nancy.. I don't know what's wrong with me but it's like- even though we broke up two years ago almost I can't help but be pulled closer and closer every time we hang out and- I don't know... Its like i'll swear I'm over you but then I actually get with you in person and I just swarm everywhere and suddenly poof i'm still in love with you and-"
Nancy leans her head on Robin's shoulder, swinging her legs over Robin's as well. They used to sit in this position a lot, so Robin wrapping her arms around Nancy's waist in reaction was no surprise.
(robins as in robins legs 💀)
"You okay, Nance?"
"I'm fine Buckley. I promise." Nancy reassures, kissing Robin's neck lightly. Robin smiles, her cheeks burning "O-Oh.."
"No but I feel the same way though, really I do. It's like no matter what I do I just-""Cant seem to get away from you." The two whisper in unison, looking at eachother.
Robin really couldn't take it anymore. She leaned forwards, kissing Nancy with such a gentle fashion. Nancy kissed back with a bit more pressure, leaning further onto Robin.
After breaking the kiss, they stayed close, staring off into the distance. A couple moments passed before Nancy spoke. "I'm sorry I broke up with you the first time, that was my fault. I shouldn't have panicked when others found out, I should've been proud. But I got scared..."
"I understand." Robin whispered, nuzzling into Nancy's strawberry scented hair. "I love you." Robin whispered, causing Nancy to smile. "I love you too." She whispered back turning her head from the scenery in the distance back over to Robin. The two made eye contact.
"So what are we now...?" Robin asked honestly, cupping Nancy's face with her hand. "You tell me." Nancy teased, winking. Robin chuckled. "God I hate you."
Nancy playfully put a hand to her chest, faking being offended. "Robin how dare you."
"How dare I what? Fall back in love with you?"
"Ah, smooth."
"I know." Robin said with a warm smile, kissing Nancy. "So.. girlfriends?"
"Girlfriends."
