chapter 18 UNDER ESTIMATED

The world around them was covered in a black fog the water below was black they couldn't see beyond the black fog.

They had tried flying out with bichen but just like in the case of when they were in coffin town they flew up and up and up but all they could see was more black fog so they flew back to their boat to find another solution.

"Lan Zhan are you alright" Wei Ying was anxious. He couldn't see the rest of their group any where.

"Mn you" Lan Zhan didn't sound scared. Wei Ying knew he was hiding his fear he didn't change at all, still as composed and brave as always but Wei Ying could read him like a book.

"I am allright" Wei Ying answered and then stood up to take a look around, their boat. It was still moving on it own.

"What wrong Wei Ying" Lan Zhan asked with an accusing glare like he was saying you knew something was wrong and didn't say anything.

"I don't know Lan Zhan" Wei Ying was staring at the compass ,the Yin-Burning tails had burnt completely, his hands on chenqing rubbing it up and down. He knew lan Zhan will see right through him.

"Wei Ying" Lan Zhan called his name which meant I know your lieing.

"Okay Lan Zhan you can stop looking at me like that" he raised his gaze from the compass to his belove's face "I suspected that the was something wrong when I was looking at the water but I couldn't confirm my suspicion plus I was trying to connect the dots between the man I met that night and the illusions.

Lan Zhan looked at him his gaze turning soft he still felt hurt that Wei Ying ying didn't tell him since so they could figure it out together but it didn't matter he said it now.
They had to figure out what was going on and how to get back to the others.

"The is something in the water we have to be careful Lan Zhan" Wei Ying noticed the boat was now in the middle of biling lake a deja vu of what happened in his previous life when he was younger. His grip on chenqing tightened his compass going into his robes

Wei Ying looked around their boats staring into the water he walked around and reached where Lan Zhan was standing he almost got bored they needed to find his son and the others and yet nothing had come out to attack them that was strange.

Lan Zhan stood alert listening for the faintest movement or sound that didn't belong to him or Wei Ying he heard a sound coming from the other side of the boat he turned the was nothing strange and then he heard another sound coming from another direction of the boat and when he looked he saw nothing .

Wei Ying also heard the sounds and like Lan Zhan he saw nothing.

Water ghouls weren't invisible and if that the creature that was hunting them it shouldn't be an issue seeing and destroying them.

While in his thoughts Lan Zhan swung Bichen towards him and he doged swiftly and Bichen struck a water ghouls that was sneaking up on wei ying.

The water ghoul immediately disappeared after being struck by Bichen strange Wei Ying thought since when did water ghouls become this smart and crafty.

"Don't be distracted" Lan Zhan reprimanded with worry.

"Mn" Wei Ying nodded in understanding

So they both raised their guards up staying alert . Several water ghouls came to attack them with each strike from bichen and Wei Ying's chenqing they kept on dissappearing and appearing back stronger than before

By now they both of them had their backs to each other more water ghouls kept entering the boat trying to suck the life out of them and Bichen came down heavily and precisely on each one that it met yet it felt like the spiritual sword did nothing to them.
