The trust between us

chapter 12 The missing people

They were in caiyi Town the next morning Lan Yi was holding the report and reading the missing names and their families to the company's hearing

Then everyone collectively agreed to go house by house to investigate, questioning the missing people's families hopefully they will use the trail left behind by the perpetrator to find the missing people along side find Jingyi.

The first house they went, the woman was wailing her husband was the one missing, so Wei Ying tried to calm her down.

"Ma'am you have to slow down we will try to bring your husband back but first we need to ask a couple of questions" his gaze on her soft, his voice was soothing, his smile was comforting.

The woman finally stopped her screaming and clean her tears she offered Wei Wuxian a sit opposite her and the rest stood behind him Lan Zhan was the closest to him more like a body guard his face still as stoic as always his gaze cold.

"How many children do you guys have?" He started his interrogation.

"2 boys , they are little 7 and 8  years old" she uttered in a whimper.

"How was your husband behaving before you noticed he was missing?" he asked inqustively turning his gaze to Lan Haoyu and Sizhui to take note of her answers.

"W....ell he......hee"  she stated  stuttering at the sentences she was still sobbing and cleaning the tears that fell from her face.

"It okay" his voice consoling take your time I am listening and he reached to wipe her tears and then he took her hands and squeeze them reassuring her that she wasn't alone.

She looked at Wei Ying and she knew they had come to help she felt more at ease and continued.

"He is a good father and a loving husband" her voice steady, she wasn't sobbing anymore "He always took care of us provided for his children always looking out for anything that would make them unhappy and he loved me so much until a month ago" she close her eyes, taking deep breath.

Lan Sizhui and Lan Haoyu were looking at her and listening with keen interests their fingers  across their note books scribbling down all she was saying.

Lan Yi stood quietly listening attentively observing the woman.

Staring at the woman scrutinising all her body language and facial expressions.

Wei Ying squeezed the woman's hands again urging her to continue.

"Well his behaviour changed, he kept telling me that i don't love him anymore, that his children were scared of him because he hurt them, and they don't care about him anymore. He he kept talking like he was crazy, saying things that weren't real she sounded sad.

"One time I met the boys crying and he was standing the not moving looking at his hands kept repeating the phrase  I stabbed him, I stabbed him. And I went to shake him and he pushed me away saying he might hurt me" and he left the house And didn't come back for two days, when he came back he didn't speak to me or the children for a week" her face was like one who was in pain.

"Then one night when we were about to sleep he told me I was cheating on him
And all these years of our marriage was fake, I married him only for his money and then he accused me of the children not being his". Tears fell from her eyes she squeeze Wei Wuxian's hand harder clearly she was in pain.

"And then I tried to tell him that it isn't true and I asked him if he has forgotten our years of marriage and he called me a liar and didn't speak to me again" she hesitated and then she continued

"The next two days he avoided me and the children He stopped providing for us I relied on my little business for money and one afternoon it got worse that when I became scared of him" her tears fell uncontrollably.
