Veronica POV
I leaned over the counter of the Family Video with Robin, Dustin walking in and Steve greeting him with an excited, overly extra handshake. I sighed, bored as hell at this extremely slow shift.
Since literally nobody was coming into the store, all I could really think about was going to Eddie's place after. He told me that since I was doing my first shift at my first job today, he wanted to "celebrate"...which in my opinion, he should have elaborated on that a little bit being that there are millions of different things 'celebrate' could mean. Like, what exactly was I supposed to expect?
"Isn't Steve like a little man child?" Robin commented, watching as Steve and Dustin's handshake continued on.
I snorted. "Wait, so they're genuinely friends? I thought Steve babysat him or something." I told Robin, Dustin looking over at me with a glare.
"Really, Veronica? You think I need a babysitter?" Dustin asked, furrowing his eyebrows at me.
"...Yes."
Steve laughed at my answer and looked over at Dustin. He began to make a remark, but Robin cut him off before he could tease him.
"Aw, little Stevie, the girl never said you didn't need one too. Society just thinks it's a little weird for a grown man to have to have a babysitter." Robin teased, Steve giving her a dirty look as Dustin laughed.
"Anyways, Veronica, do you know why Eddie was being so weird this morning?" Dustin asked, walking over and standing across the counter from me.
I shrugged my shoulders.
"He was being weird?" I asked, Dustin rolling his eyes.
"Oh thats right, I forgot you don't talk to him at school to protect your precious little image." He avowed, my eyes raising at his boldness.
He was just a kid...stay calm.
A kid with a smart ass attitude.
"Alright, did you ask that question just to be a dick?" I asked, Steve snorting at my comment.
"No, I asked the question because i'm genuinely curious." Dustin explained, leaning against the counter with his forearm.
"Enough with the bullshit. How was he being weird?" Robin pried, curious about our conversation. Steve walked behind the counter and stood next to me, putting me in between him and Robin. He then looked at Dustin, curious to what he was going to say.
"I don't know. He just seemed...out of it when he was walking into school this morning with Gareth. I asked him what's wrong and he wouldn't say. He was also pretty quiet at lunch today which as you all know, is extremely odd for him." Dustin explained, my heart immediately dropping.
Was he still overthinking about me and Steve? I didn't want to mention it out loud, one to not give Steve the ego boost of knowing Eddie's jealous, and two because I didn't wanna embarrass him.
"Hm, weird. Yeah, i'll try to talk about it with him when I go over to his place tonight." I told Dustin, him giving me a slight nod.
"Wait, so...who all knows about you and Eddie dating?" Steve asked, looking over at me confused. I thought for a moment before answering.
"Well, you guys, the Hellfire club, my Aunt, and Chrissy Cunningham." I admitted, guilt taking over my body as I mentioned the short list. But technically, we weren't really dating, so...the length of the list shouldn't matter at this point.
Pfft, as if there should be a list at all.
"Chrissy Cunningham?!" They all asked in unison, shock in their voices. I looked at each one of them, confusion taking over me.
