Veronica POV

I woke up to a sudden shifting beside me, sounds of heavy breathing and wincing along with it. I quickly sat up, looking over at Eddie to notice he was still asleep...and seemed to be having a nightmare.

I quickly shook his body, trying my best to wake him up. He wouldn't budge for a moment, causing me to be shocked when his eyes opened with a huge gasp. He immediately sat up, feeling around the bed and becoming aware of his surroundings. He was breathing heavy and his eyes were all teary.

"Hey, hey. What's wrong?" I asked, putting a hand on his shoulder. Eddie jumped a bit, looking over to realize I was still beside him. His eyes went wide before he pulled me into a tight hug, him still trying to catch his breath.

"You're here. You're safe..." He mumbled into the crook of my neck, his body finally calming down and becoming less tense.

"It was just a dream. I'm here." I assured him as I held him close, the feeling of his shaky body pressing against mine.

"Fuck...did I wake you up?" He asked, pulling away from me.

Don't make him feel bad, he's going through enough.

"No. I've been up for a few minutes." I lied, him nodding as he heard my answer.

Is he just not gonna explain what the fuck just happened?

Eddie laid back and stared at the ceiling, his eyes still filled with worry. I laid beside him and rest my head on his chest, his arm wrapping around me and his breathing still jagged.

"Are you okay? What happened?" I asked, looking up at him. Eddie just continued to stare at the ceiling, his thumb gently caressing my waist. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes before speaking.

"I had this nightmare...I was back at my trailer with Chrissy. We were just talking and I remember saying to her...something like 'holy shit...you're not really dead' and I was thinking about how happy you were gonna be to see her again," he began, his eyes watering. "and then...I wasn't with Chrissy anymore. Chrissy turned into you. Next thing I knew you were fuckin' floating and snapping just like she did..." He choked, pinching the bridge of his nose and trying to fight back his tears.

My mouth gaped open a bit as I didn't know what to say. I'd hated seeing him like this. I wish he didn't have to go through any of that...

"Eddie i'm here...none of that is gonna happen to me. We're both okay, alright? I'm okay." I assured him. He nodded his head, taking a breath before moving his hand away from his face. He looked down at me, forcing a small smile on his lips.

"Okay." He replied, leaning down to peck my lips. I blushed slightly as he pulled away, placing my head back onto his chest and listening to the smooth rhythm of his heartbeat.

All of a sudden, a knock was heard at the door. My mind immediately thought of Steve, who I'd forgotten about completely this morning.

"You can come in." I called out, Eddie shifting slightly under me.

The door opened slowly, almost hesitantly until Steve's face popped around the corner. He seemed shaken up.

"Guys..." He said shakily, walking into the room.

I sat up, Eddie and I watching him as he looked at us nervously.

"What's wrong?" I asked, worry in my voice.

Steve hesitated for a moment before speaking.

"Don't tell me you guys had something to do with the murder at the trailer park off Kerley..." He spoke, my head immediately snapping to Eddie's.
