Veronica POV
I practically ran down the hallway to Eddie's hospital room, excited to tell him the news. My pace quickly slowed down as I remembered...you know...two fucking cops were standing outside of his room, but I didn't really care. They're gonna be pissed when they realize they had to stand all night for no reason.
Losers.
As I walked closer to the room, their judgmental stares followed my every step as I walked closer and closer to the door. My hand eventually reached the doorknob, my eyes flashing one of them a smug look.
"Mornin' boys." I greeted sarcastically, looking between the both of them before opening the door to Eddie's hospital room. My arms were immediately grabbed, both cops pulling me back a little. I gasped, my eyes bolting to Eddie's bed. My heart immediately dropped out of my chest.
The room was empty.
The door began to close as my eyes scanned every bit of the room I could see. It was fucking empty.
"Where the hell is he?!" I yelled, the cops pulling me back from the room. I tried to kick myself away but it was no use. They were too fucking strong.
They began basically dragging my ass to the hospital waiting room, my legs giving out from trying to snake my way out of their grasp.
"Where are we going?! Where are you taking me?!" I yelled, my stomach dropping as they quickly let go of me. The big one basically pushed me into a chair, anger boiling inside of me.
Fucking dick.
I began to sit up, but a familiar voice spoke from the chair beside me, causing me to pause and roll my eyes.
Chief Powell.
"Veronica just sit down." He said sternly, my jaw clenching.
Son of a bitch.
I slowly sat back in the seat, trying my best to hold my anger in.
Didn't wanna get in more trouble than i already am, right?
"Where is he?" I asked, my jaw clenched. I gripped my hands firmly onto the arm rests, my eyes stabbing through Chief Powell's.
Powell let out an annoyed sigh. "Veronica, calm down," he began. "Eddie's fine."
I let out a breath, my body immediately less tense.
At least he's okay...but I am still fucking pissed.
"Well then where is he?" I replied, Chief Powell obviously annoyed.
"Well if you'd let me get a word in you'd find out." He snapped, him obviously over my nagging.
I shut up, rolling my eyes at his response. I then sat back and crossed my legs, letting out a sigh of annoyance. "Go on."
Powell stared at me for a moment, standing up from the chair next to me and crossing his arms. He faced me, the other two officers standing next to me, prepared to grab me if necessary.
"Eddie has been taken into custody by the Roane County Police Department. He should be transferred and booked into the Indiana State Prison by the end of the week. He's not getting out." Powell explained, his body guards getting ready for my reaction.
Ha, jokes on them. I have a plan.
I just didn't realize all of this would be so soon...I didn't even get to say a proper goodbye.
Keep your composure, Veronica. Stay cool.
"Okay." I replied, Chief Powell's face twisting in confusion.
"Okay? That's it? Okay?" He asked, his voice in almost a shock.
I shrugged.
"I mean yeah. What do you think I expected? Him to get out scot free? You people don't wanna fucking hear the truth so obviously the town's lies overrule us. I knew he was going to prison, but you just don't know that you pricks put an innocent man in there." I replied, crossing my arms and leaning my head against the wall. "Can I go now? I've got stuff to do."
Chief Powell scoffed, looking at his buddies in shock.
"Wow, okay. I see that head of yours still isn't screwed on tight enough." He laughed, shaking his head in disbelief. "We're going to have to take you in for questioning, Veronica."
I snorted.
"Are you going to accept the truth? Or call me crazy and throw me into a madhouse?" I replied, laughter in my voice.
Chief Powell's face turned serious, his eyebrows raising. "We're going to listen. But we need you to tell us the real truth. Not these fucking stories." He replied, his tone sharp. I rolled my eyes, sitting up and letting out a dry laugh.
"Sooo...you're not gonna listen. Got it. I'll talk to you when I get a lawyer." I replied dryly, standing up and immediately being blocked by that fatass cop. Chief Powell put a hand on his arm, looking at him intensely.
"Maclean...just let her go." Powell said in defeat. The officer let up, me immediately running past him. "But don't think you're getting out scot free!! You'll be hearing from us in a few days!!!" He yelled sternly, his voice harsh.
I just rolled my eyes and flipped him off, running faster and letting out a laugh as I fled through the hospital doors.
Chief Hopper, here I come.
