Chapter Forty: Tomb Of Horrors

Veronica POV

After what felt like hours of sitting in silence, Eddie and I finally decided that it was time to go back to the others.

I was honestly a little embarrassed to go back in there, being I had stormed off after being forced to face the truth. I was emotional...and they all probably heard me scream crying in the room over. Talk about humiliating.

As we walked in, everyone looked over at us sympathetically. I tried to ignore their saddened stares, but it was so heavy. They just kept fucking looking at us.

As we sat back down on the couch, Eddie cleared his throat and gave everyone a look, causing them to all look away and pretend to be doing something productive. I mentally rolled my eyes. Why do they have to make this so awkward?

"So um...we came up with a plan." Max spoke up, breaking the loud, unpleasant silence. Eddie and I's eyes immediately darted over to her, eager to hear what she had to say.

"We're gonna get a bunch of shit...like weapons. We don't know where from yet because we haven't thought that far...but you, Steve, Robin, Nancy and Dustin are gonna go back to the upside down." Max told Eddie, everyone watching nervously for his reaction.

Wait, just Eddie? Not me?

"The upside down?! You want me to go back there?!" Eddie asked, his eyes going wide at the thought.

"Yes." Max said blankly before continuing. "Nancy, Robin, and Steve are going to take the weapons and they're going to find Vecna in the upside down Creel House. Remember how we talked about the attic being his...his weak point?" Max asked, Eddie shaking his head no in confusion.

"While we went to the Creel House, we discovered that the attic is his hub. He's weak there...under that trance when he tries to find people. Just like El." Dustin added, Eddie furrowing his eyebrows.

"El...the girl with superpowers, right?" Eddie asked, Dustin rolling his eyes.

"Yes, Eddie. The girl with superpowers. Can you please try to keep up?!" Dustin argued, Eddie sighing in annoyance.

Not gonna lie, I was really fucking lost too. What do they mean a trance like El? Who the fuck was El and why don't we just use her to fight against this Medusa ass bitch if she has all these superpowers?

Also, why was Dustin acting like that was a completely normal sentence?!! You do not hear that everyday in a serious fucking tone!! So yes, it's going to be hard to keep up!! Shit...

"So basically, because Vecna has that hub, Robin, Steve, and Nancy are going to try to find him and kill him while he's in the trance." Dustin finished, Eddie and I nodding slightly.

"What about Roni? Where's Roni going?" Eddie asked, looking around at everyone in curiosity.

Silence.

Everyone looked around at each other, obviously nervous to answer.

Yeah, because that definitely didn't scare the shit out of me. Why can't they just say it?! Like fuck.

Eddie lowered his chin, raising his eyebrows at everyone as they continued to stay silent.

"Is someone gonna fucking answer?" Eddie asked, nobody making eye contact.

Nancy sighed, biting the inside of her lip for a moment.

"Well, you see, in order to get Vecna in the trance, we need him to get into someones mind..." Nancy spoke, my heart dropping.

Oh.

"So basically, we need Max and Veronica...to um, to...be the bait." Dustin concluded, looking at Eddie nervously.
