POV: Sofia
I went through my first four classes and now we are at lunch. Eliot sat next to me in all of them but I didn't force her to talk to me nor be all "buddy-buddy" with her. Of course we talked when we needed to. Like asking for a pencil, about class, or things of that sort. I'm walking into the lunch room and see Eliot sitting alone and teachers watching me. I know they want me to go over and plop down next to her but that feels like an awkward interaction waiting to happen. Still, I swallow my pride and waltz over. I will not force her, but ask. the last thing i want to do is get kicked of the welcoming committee over what, not asking someone if they want to sit near me.
"Hey!" I said with a smile. She looked at me confused tilting her head. "Hey...." she said with a small wave and laugh. "Can I sit here? I'm gonna sit here." I say sitting next to her as she scoots over with a confused look. "Uhh, what are you-" she tries to say. "They really want me to sit next to you. I'm sorry." I mouth to her with an apologetic look. She looks around for a second noticing all of the teachers looking at me almost giving me a mental thumbs up. She looks back at me saying "Ok" with an airy half laugh half sigh averting her eyes from me.
After awhile of us both picking at our food the teachers walk away and I sigh. "Sorry." I say apologetically looking at her then looking away again. "It's alright." she says with a chuckle still looking at her picked apart food. "I honestly think i's kinda funny how much they force kids to be friends when they're new." she said looking at me. "At least you know they care?" i say with a light-hearted laugh, now looking back at her. "Do they though" she said tilting her head, smirking. I laughed and we sunk into a normal small talk. Not awkward at all.
Gonna try to upload now. No schedule or anything tho, sorry bout that. I started writing and publishing what is now called "Ghosted" and I felt bad just leaving this here.
