Chapter 10: Chocolate

Karylle's POV

"Hindi naman, kumikita pa rin naman si mama ng sapat kaya nakapagaral pa rin naman ako. Oo bumagsak yung negosyo namin kaya after highschool doon na ako nagdecide na mag-stop nalang muna sa pagaaral kasi gusto ko rin makatulong kay mama." 

"Ahh.. ang bait mo pala talaga" Anne said. 

"Kaya nga nung sinabi ni daddy na pagaaralin niya ako, sobrang saya  kasi ang tagal ko na rin talaga na gustong makapagaral ulit e."

I looked at her, she just smile and nodded. I stood up and placed the tea cup on the sink while she remained seated still finishing the cup of tea I prepared for her. Pareho kasi kaming 'di makatulog kaya naisipan namin na mag-tsaa muna sa kusina at magusap na rin.

"May tanong ka pa?" I asked while washing the cup I used.

"Hmm wala na. Uhmm but.. I hope you don't mind pero sana 'wag mo nang i-entertain yung nanliligaw sa'yo.. kasi... uhmm.."

"Hindi naman yata siya nanliligaw e. Kasi, kung oo eh 'di sana magpakilala siya 'di ba?"

"Exactly, hindi mo naman kilala kaya don't entertain him nalang.."

"Selos ka ba?" I asked while smiling still not facing her.

"Not that I'm jealous, I'm just concerned. I mean.. people nowadays.." she said while taking a sip on her tea.

"Sige ako naman ang may tanong." I said while smiling. I thought of throwing a joke to her. "Tomboy ka ba?"

She remained silent. I turned to her and took the sit in front of her.

"Don't worry. Promise I won't tell dad. Umamin ka na kasi." I whsipered

She furrowed her brows and she looked nervous.

"Why... why do keep on asking that ba? I'm a girl! I already told you that before." she said.

"Really? But the way you look at me....and you're jealous because of-"

She bit her lip. I wanted to laugh but I'm trying my best to control it

"Uy Anne ahh.. baka type mo pala ako. Incest 'yon!" I laughed because that's just a joke. Of course it is just a joke. Umaatake lang talaga minsan ang pagiging gandang ganda sa sarili ko and knowing Anne, I think she's not and she will never be the person I'm thinking of.

"It's not incest!" I stopped laughing for she suddenly became serious. "We're not sisters! Not even half sisters. Hindi naman kita kadugo ah? It's not incest! Hindi kita kapatid!" she shouted.

I shut my mouth, stood up and faced the sink. Kunwari nalang naghuhugas ako ng pinggan kahit na hindi. I don't know why but that felt hurt. She's right, I know we aren't sisters but hearing those words from her I couldn't help myself but to get hurt.

Ang dating kasi sa'kin ng sinabi niya, para bang 'di pa rin niya ako tanggap sa pamilya. Para bang kahit kailan ayaw niya ako maging kapatid. Parang pinamumukha niya sa akin na 'wala lang' ako.

My tears suddenly fell from my eyes. Good thing that my back is facing her. She wouldn't see me. Hayy umiiral na naman ang pagiging emosyonal ko.

"No.. uhmm it's not what you think.. uhmm I'm sorry" she said.

"Okay lang Anne. Tama ka naman eh." I said sounding different this time. I turned to her and forced a smile. "Sige na, mauna na ako ha. Matulog ka na rin. Goodnight." I said before turning my back on her again.

"Ate K. Please don't get mad." she said again. But I didn't mind. I went upstairs.
