A/N: my friend said she got sasha and marcy (not the ship) vibes from luz and ellie so i completely played into it
TEN YEARS AFTER THE BOILING ISLES
"Luz!"
"Ellie!" Luz yells before tripping over something. She falls face first to the ground but manages to get up without a complaint. "I'm alright!"
"How was the flight?" Ellie asks as she helps Luz with her bags.
"Pretty good! Well, there was a lot of kids on the flight but other than that, not bad." Luz laughs while Ellie puts her suitcase in her trunk and shuts it.
"I've missed you, dude! It's been way too long." Ellie smiles as they both get in the car.
"I know, right? My mom was so happy to hear I was gonna visit you. Nothing's really changed in the friend department."
"Yikes. But same for me, absolutely no friends. But it's really not so bad." She shrugs while starting to drive.
"This is a pretty nice car. And I love your hair! A little below shoulder length is a cute look on you." Luz compliments
"Thanks! It's been a minute. What have you been up to? I read the first couple chapters of the book you're working on and it's awesome!" Ellie laughs as they drive along the highway.
"Mm, thanks! It's been doing pretty well with the publishers, I think they actually want to publish it before next year! What about you? Psych degree come in handy?" Luz asks.
"Yeah, actually! I love working with the kids, helping them overcome their emotional baggage. I have quite the experience." She starts before getting cut off by a truck. "Nice signal, buddy!"
"Still have that road rage, huh?" Luz teases.
"Unfortunately. I'm trying to control it though." Ellie jokes.
"Can you believe it's been ten years?"
"Crazy, right? It still feels like just yesterday we left." She laughs.
"Can we get some food? The airport in Connecticut had no good food and I was too excited when I landed here." Luz snickers.
"Yeah, of course! Sorry I haven't visited more often. Things have been....."
"No, I know. It's totally alright. In all honesty, these past ten years have been rough. It's hard not really being able to talk about this stuff with anyone." Luz starts.
"It was a lot worse in school. Thankfully, I only had two years left but still. All the kids would call me scar-face. You'd think they could come up with more creative things." She tries to joke. "And it's not really normal to have a frog without a cage or anything. Whenever they'd ask how I got so many scars I'd just say 'a sword' and they'd be too weirded out to keep asking."
"Do you still have those things?" Luz smiles.
"I can't get rid of them. They'd probably make a ton of money though." She explains.
"I have Eda's wanted poster hung up on my wall. That alone raised a lot of questions. I would just have to say it's from an anime and pray they wouldn't ask more questions." Luz jokes this time.
"My apartment is decked out in stuff I kept from the demon realm. I can't believe you're really moving here!" Ellie smiles.
"Me either! I just figured I'd be closer to the publishers and obviously you. Whenever I'm with you, I don't feel so far from the demon realm, you know?"
"Yeah, exactly." Ellie nod.
"So, are you still dating that girl?" Luz asks with a shoulder shimmy.
