As I started to walk away from the battlefield, I felt this piercing pain in my back. Without hesitation, I fell to my knees. I wasn't incontrol of that, it just happened naturally.

I felt like everything was going slow and everything was becoming brighter. I checked my back to see what was going on and when I looked into my hand, there was just blood. No one was helping me, they were just watching. Some were amazed, others were baffled. This battle machine that they knew was broken.

"You should've shot me when you had the chance." said the man I saved.

The last thing that I remembered was my face planted on the floor and everything went dark. Pretty sure that I am dead now.

Then, I woke up in this room. I had no clue where I was. It had no familiarity whatsoever. Everything felt extremely compact and it felt like nothing of this world. Every colour was highly saturated. There was a brick wall and a couple of orange and brown stripes on the wall.

In the middle of the room, there was a table with a computer and there were two chairs opposite to each other. One of which, I was sitting in.

When I woke up, within seconds a man opened the door which led to this room and sat down in the chair opposite to me.

"Am I dead?" I asked.

I mean, this place didn't seem like a place that would exist in my world. There was something off about this place.

"No, not yet," he said.

The man wore a suit and tie and looked very formal. He had dark, blonde hair and had a bit of a stubble. He spoke in a Texan accent.

"Are you going to kill me? This looks like a room you would do it in." I said.

"You don't like trust do you?" he said.

"Well, everyone I ever trusted has turned my back on me and now I'm in this room with a mysterious man. At this point I only trust-" I said.

"Yourself? What about that Gabrielle girl you like?" he said.

"How, how, how do you know about her?" I asked.

"We see over everything." he said.

"Well, how come we have never met until now?" I asked

"You have, you have just never realised it. And, you never needed to know about us. It's safer that way. You live within your path and we live within ours." he said.

The man was setting something up on the computer very eagerly. Clearly, he loved his job.

"Let's get this started," he said.

The video started playing this propaganda piece of shit. It was like one of those videos when you need to have a briefing or something. At the start, it played a video of them going through the universe.

"Hello and welcome to the Time Masters Bureau." it said.

It then continued to show a bunch of different colourful strips that were waving about.

"It's our job to make sure that each multiverse and timeline stays in its path and does not intertwine with each other. If it does, it will cause a massive war to see which multiverse is more supreme.'' It continued.

Holy shit, the multiverse is real? You're telling me that there could be another version of myself? Was the real reason why Agatha was there during that writers movement was because it happened in a different multiverse? Because she definitely didn't go in ours.

"You're here because you did something that caused a disruption. Whether it was quitting your job or robbing a bank. Now we have stepped in to fix your problem. Sadly, you don't belong in your timeline anymore, so hold on tight while we sort something out for you." said the video.

I sat there still clueless. Do they mean that I don't belong in the 1918s timeline? The 2022 one? Both? I don't understand. This video has caused me to have more questions than solving them.

"Now let's start with a little cooperation. I would like to learn more things about you." he said.

"Well, what you have told me, you know everything already." I said.

"We see things, but sometimes we don't get the true meanings of it." he said.

"Look, I've got these questions. If you answer them honestly then maybe I can help you. You want to get out, huh? Then what are you going to do? " he asked.

"Stop Mr Waltz organisation." I said.

"Then what?" he asked.

"I want to return to my normal life." I said.

"You want to be the hero of the story?" he asked.

"It's not about being the hero. It's about doing the right thing. Now who are you? I said.

"I'm Jonah and I deal with fugitives," he said.

"I'm a time fugitive?" I asked.

"Well that's what I've got down." he said.

"How did I even get here? And how am I even alive?" I asked.

"Someone collected you. But time moves differently here." he said.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Well, nothing progresses here. You don't age, your wounds don't affect you. You probably get the point." he said.

"I know what this place is." I said.

"What?" he asked.

"An illusion. It's the part between life and death and I need to make it out to stay alive." I said.

"This is a purgatory, this is real. You need to start taking things seriously. If you didn't go down that alleyway then maybe you wouldn't be here at all. You were born to make a sacrifice for the great or good. And it will continue to happen because it was meant to. That's how it is, that's how it was, and how it will be. You were meant to make Gabrielle a stronger version of herself." he said.

"What is this place?" I asked.

Jonah reached out his hand to me after a slight pause.

"Come on," he said.

I shaked his hand. I don't know what I have done but I could've made a deal with the devil as far as I know.

Another man then came in and claimed that they needed Jonah because there had been a situation. This is my chance to escape.

He left this device that is like that Samsung phone that is like a flip phone and when you open it, it turns into an ipad.

When I opened it up and pressed a button, I somehow teleported to a corridor within this place.

I casually walked down the corridor and no one seemed to care that I had disappeared.

Suddenly, an alarm went off and Jonah got a bunch of guards to help him find me which they successfully did. I clicked the button I pressed earlier and I was back in the interrogation room.

Clearly, there was no escape, so I just went to sit back down on my chair that I sat down on earlier.

Jonah walked in and had a knife in his hand and cautiously went up to me.

"There is nowhere left to run," he said.

"I can't go back, can I?" I asked.

"I can't offer you to go home, but maybe I can offer you something better?" he asked.

"Like what?" I asked.

"The person we are actually hunting is your brother, maybe, if you help us. We can swap your places on the timeline." he said.

"Well, why didn't you do that in the first place?" I asked.

"It's a lot more difficult than you think," he said.
