Like any other day, your alarm shrilled violently at the exact same time every morning. And like any other day, you woke up to turn it off, sitting in your bed to try and wake yourself up.
You sighed, staring at the time on your phone like you did every day before getting up to get ready for work. You stared in the mirror, touching your dark bags gently and frowning.
You shook your head, trying to ignore the dead look in your dull eyes as you brushed your teeth. And just like routine, after brushing your teeth you had simple toast and tea.
You looked around your simple apartment, quiet and lonely as ever with no sign of life other than yourself. Not like you could call yourself an example of life.
Once you were finished, you went to get dressed like you did every day, your already packed bag sitting at your work table waiting to be picked up. You made sure to have everything, plugging in your headphones into your phone before exiting the house.
As usual, it was quiet in the mornings. There was barely any sign of people except the ones that walked down the pathways or drove in their cars.
You breathed in the cold crispt air, staring up at the bright blue sky. It seemed to be the only source of colour in your life as your music blasted through your ears.
ANd like everyday routine, you walked to work. A half an hour walk that let you try and feel like a normal person before trying to force yourself to be busy so you wouldn't feel empty.
You walked past different types of people.
People that wore uniforms and rushing to school.
People that wore suits and waiting for buses.
People in casual clothes as they walked to the park.
People that chatted happily with their friends.
It was the same difference every day. Nothing new.
You ignored your boss that greeted you like you did every day, pretending that you didn't hear her as you walked to the backroom for your locker. You tried to keep your headphones in as long as you could until you had to take them out and put your apron on.
You pocketed your phone and walked back out, instantly diving for work to try and drown out your empty mind. You just wanted to be kept busy.
You busied yourself by making donuts, sandwiches, drinks or whatever things cafes sold to earn revenue. You were glad for the first few rounds of the doorbell going off, signalling the round of customers that would be flooding in the next few hours to keep you busy.
You served customers left and right, not making small talk or acknowledging the customers. Not like they did the same anyway.
The breakfast rush and lunch rush soon went by and your boss begged you to take a lunch break but you promised you would soon. Before you could take the dreaded break, the doorbell rang again and you braced yourself to take new orders.
