--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There was a sense of brightness and internal warmth that spread across the village, a dreamlike peacefulness that soothed over the almost quiet and hidden village. The air was sweet, the wind a cool breeze that wisped down the pathways with a flutter of petals and magic. The quiet soon disappeared closer towards the town square where people mingled and happily intertwined their life together.

Merchants smiled at fellow friends and neighbours, talking to them and selling their hard-earned products. Children played together with bubbles and kites, the young teens dancing together with the help of a maestro leading their band of instruments to play a lullaby that rings through the air.

It was days like this that brought the forgotten princess to leave her library, to smell the sweet air and revel in the sounds that let her imagine that she was back home in Skonovia. Back home to the townsfolk and the village that happily took her in with open arms. She sat on the ledge of the water fountain next to the small children that played in the water, a serene and sad smile on her face as she looked over each person that passed her. She recognised each one as a descendant of the townspeople of Skonovia from what seemed like a lifetime ago, recognising the grown faces of the children she would've looked after during her visit to the town square.

(Y/n) hummed to the music that breezed past her, tilting her head to the sun that warmed her when she felt a gentle tug on her skirt. She looked down and saw a small child, a little girl with a toothy grin and her mind flashed with the memories of the mischievous child one of the maids had. The child that stolen her shoe. The resemblance was uncanny and she knew she had found the maid's descendants. (Y/n) travelled none stop, searching for her people and making sure their descendants were content and happy in life. She was still the Princess of Skonovia after all, she made sure her people and her people's descendants never suffered as they did during the war. Like she had suffered.

"Hello, there little one." (Y/n) smiles softly, lowering her stance to not scare the child.

"Princess!" The child squeals out and the girl was frozen from the small child's exclamation. The little girl curtsied and (y/n) held back her tears. Even after decades, her people were happy to see her.

"I'm no princess, but you certainly are." (Y/n) picks up the child and stands up to spin her around, the little girl squealing happily as she rose her hands to the sky. Other children ran to the forgotten princess, her picking each one up and dancing with them in her arms. The townsfolk grinned at the scene, murmuring about the kind librarian and watching as she bought trinkets for each child from different stalls and happily waving them goodbye as they ran back to their parents.
