Nightfall was agonizingly slow as (y/n) waited on the bed, ignoring the red droplets of blood trickling down her bare back which soaked the bedsheets below. It had been a long time since she had healed herself properly, the two long vertical rips across the whole expanse of her back causing her agony.

She waited for the dead of night, which she knew everyone would be sound asleep by for her companion to arrive. (y/n) tucked her hair behind her siren ears, them twitching as she picked up on the faint sounds of hooves outside her room. With her eyes glowing, (y/n) changed into a silk gown and put on her mask that hid her ears and eyes before looking out the window. She smiled as she saw her friend and companion huff at her, butting his nuzzle against her face.

"I missed you too love. Have you found one?" The horse nods as it lowers for (y/n) to jump onto its back. It wastes no time before galloping off, knowing the urgent need for its rider to be healed. Warm winds whizzed past them as (y/n) made sure no one was following them, riding deeper into the forest to areas that even humans would stay clear from. These parts of the forest were forbidden to Midgardians as they were the home to creatures that were worshipped by these humans.

But even some of these Midgardians deemed themself more important than these creatures that were cared for under the eyes of the gods, (y/n) being an unfortunate example.

"Hurry love..." (y/n) mumbled, eyes drooping from the blood loss as she felt her powers that were keeping her alive wane away. The horse finally stops and (y/n) sighs in relief to see a glowing lake, blue in an iridescent colour and hidden away from the world by the forest protecting this magic. The horse lowered down onto the ground, laying down as (y/n) stumbled down. She waited, hearing the night creatures in peace and knowing there were no intruders as she took off the gown before walking to the lake. Her horse made sure to keep her body hidden with his, on the lookout as she sighed in peace from the agony fading away.

The lake glowed brighter as she kneeled on the floor bed, the water just reaching the top of her shoulders as it healed her wounds from the wings that were ripped from her. The magic from her wings kept (y/n) alive but without it, she had to resort to healing in special lakes made only for her kind. Tears slipped from (y/n)'s eyes, memories always crawling their way back to her when she had to regain her powers.

The lake welcomed her as the siren she was, her skin glowing with transparent scales but never having the ability to transform like her father used to. (y/n) had taken after her mother, having a replica of her wings that encompassed the features of royalty in both size and power.
