I sat down in my usual seat after sorting my locker out.
"Good morning, Natalie." My teacher, Mrs Kamryn chirped as she spotted me.
I waved in response earning a smile from the woman. Sighing, I got out my textbook and a pen and placed it on my desk. Patrick Hockstetter strutted into the classroom alongside Henry, Belch and Victor. Maths class was always the worst with them, it was never peaceful. Always chaotic. And with Hockstetter next to me, he made this class 10x even more unbearable. Recently I stopped taking whatever shit came out of his mouth and I'd either ignore him, or insult him jokingly to shut him up, and for some reason it worked. Victor always said he had a soft spot for me but I didn't take any notice.Out of the four, Vic is my closest friend. We've known eachother since 3rd grade, plus we live across from eachother and our parents got along really well. Richie didn't like how well I got along with him, but I didn't really care. He's always soft on Richie whenever Henry gets hold of him, but he's too much of a dick to notice. Other than that, we had a pretty close bond and I was okay with that, it helped me get closer to the rest of the gang and sometimes on the odd occasion I'd hang with them after school or Belch would drive me home once we were released from school. Vic mentioned one or two times that the group had gotten used to me and wanted to hang around with me more, but I politely declined each time he brought it up. He then told me Patrick had taken a sudden liking towards someone and he suspected it was me! Gross.
The seat next to me screeched against the floor as the tall figure had sat in it and pulled up next to me.
"Hey doll face." The boy smirked.
"Hey shithead, whatsup?" I smirked back playfully, turning to him.
"Nothing. Gonna die from boredom but it's whatever." He rolled his eyes at the comment he had just made.
"Ha! You and I both, lessons not even started yet and I feel like dying." I laughed. Patrick flashed a smile before returning to his dull face from before. I was surprised he hadn't insulted me yet or said some kind of disgusting remark about the teacher.
"Honestly, I'm surprised you didn't skip." I said with a raised eyebrow.
"Was going to, thought about it, didn't end up doing it." He replied bluntly. The bell had rung signalling the beginning of the lesson. Patrick threw his head on the desk and groaned. Mrs Kamryn looked over at Patrick and shot me a glare straight after. I kicked his leg harshly underneath the table. His head shot up faster than a whippet.
"Huh?"
"Teacher." I whispered.
"Oh. Thanks." He whispered back.
"Turn to page 62 of your text books please. Today we're learning algebra. C'mon guys get your heads off of the desks and concentrate!" Mrs K raised her voice at the many drowsy students slouched in their seats or bent over the desks.Math dragged on. Surprisingly, Patrick wasn't all that annoying. Infact, he wasn't even a bore. He was quite entertaining and funny, even. Now this was odd, Patrick Hockstetter? Funny? In the same sentence? Surely I wasn't thinking straight!
At last, the bell had chimed. I had History next. It wasn't that bad, anything is better than maths. I got up from my seat and tucked it under the desk, grabbing my bag and throwing it over my shoulder.
"Bye, Tozier." Pat turned around and winked before hurrying out of the classroom to his friends.
