Period 3, Gym.
-Natalie's pov-
I hurriedly shoved my hair into a loose ponytail before making my way out of the changing rooms.
"Girls, if you aren't out by the count of 3 you've got detention after school, Ya hear me?!" Miss Mendez shouted.
"Yes miss." The remainder of the girls inside chanted in unison.
I left the room, Beverley behind me. The boys were just passing as they were walking out to the field, Patrick being one of them. I kept my head low but couldn't help but look up at him every so often, and each time I caught him looking back at me."Nat do you know what we're doing today?" Bev turned to me and asked.
"Nah, probably soccer though. You know what Miss Mendez is like." I replied. She nodded her head and we continued to the field.
"Alright everyone. It's soccer today, I need four team captains, so raise your hand if you'd like to be one." Mr Cole chirped, "Miss Mendez and I will be choosing."
Beverly and I took a step back to make sure we wouldn't be chosen.
"Ok...Lisa, go and get the Yellow vests and stand over there." Miss M said, pointing to the left of her.
"Jules, blue vests." Mr Cole shouted, "Come over here whenever you've got them!"
You could see Jules literally sprinting to get to his team vests. He was the biggest Jock the school had seen in years, and all of the girls swooned over him. Apart from me, Beverly, Cassie and a couple others. Jules was buff, he went to the gym twice a week and adored football & soccer, hated any other class unless it was gym, and played for the school football team. Oh- and had the biggest crush on Gretta.
"Nicky, Green vests. And make it snappy, you walk too slow!" Miss Mendez' voice was as harsh as the winter wind when she had spoken.
Both teachers had scanned over the groups of students looking for one more captain. Again, Beverly and I took another step backwards. Nobody had their hands raised- meaning they'd pick someone random. I hated being captain so much, our school took PE so seriously it was embarrassing.
"Ah, what the hell! Reginald get over here and get the red vests." Mr Cole shrugged.
Belch smirked as he made his way over to collect the vests.
"He better not pick us. I want to go on Lisa's team." Beverly scowled. I nodded my head in response."I pick Jasmine, sir." Lisa smiled.
"Arnie, c'mon man!" Jules waved him over.
"I've chose Henry." Belch said, stuffing his hands into his pockets.
"Natalie, be on my team?" Nicky asked. I walked over to her and stood beside her as the rest of the team members were being chosen. Bev ended up on Lisa's team, but it was fine since we weren't going against eachother. It was between Jules' team or Belch's team. Honestly, I hoped for Jules- only to avoid any complications with Henry & I, or perhaps Patrick and his flirtatious acts.
"Okay Jules, you'll be going against Lisa's team. Which leaves you, Nicky, and Reginald's team." Mr Cole spoke. I sighed but got on with it. I could see Patrick smirk in the corner of my eye as he heard Mr Cole's words.
=======
As I ran for the ball Henry purposely tried tripping me up, however I managed to dodge his attempt and kept running.
"Asshole" I whispered under my breath. The ball found it's way to my foot and I quickly passed it onto Colleen Bass, who then scored us a goal. Lisa, Colleen and a few other teammates cheered and Reggie shook my hand out of nowhere. The whistle signalling the end of the game finally blew, and we went back over to the container of vests and one by one took them off and placed them back. Patrick stood next to me and as I took my vest off. He was just stood there, staring. I took no notice and placed my vest into the box. Patrick then threw his into their box and walked over to Victor. Bev came over to me and we spoke for a while before both teachers instructed us back to the changing rooms. While we were walking back, Patrick was behind me, and tapped me on the shoulder. I turned to face him and he spoke.
"Wanna go somewhere later Nat? Just like, me n' you or whatever. Junkyard maybe? Diner?" He asked, however trying to sound and look intimidating. Probably because other people were around and he didn't wanna damage his reputation-Whatever reputation he even had atleast. I agreed to it anyways, and we set a date for Saturday at 4. He would meet me at my house, and we'd walk to the diner.
"My address is-
"It's fine, I already know where you live." He interrupted. I questioned how he knew this.
"You know where I live? What?" I asked.
"Oh, uh. I was at Victor's house the other week and I was um, looking out of his window. Saw you emptying out the trash." Patrick quickly replied. I shrugged it off and smiled.
"Okay then. I'll see you Saturday Pat." Before I went off with Beverly I could see Patrick's face flush with pink. He turned to Henry, Victor and Belch and walked to the changing rooms with them, and Patrick was covering his smile and scratching the back of his neck.
