I woke up on Saturday feeling so energetic for no particular reason at all. I got out of bed no problem. Looking at my alarm on my bedside table, I noticed that it was off. The batteries probably ran out and I forgot to change them. 'Oh well, I'll just do it later on.' I thought. As I made my bed I could hear humming coming from downstairs. I put on my slippers and opened my door, only to be greeted with the strong smell of bacon and eggs. Then I remembered that mom and dad had returned after almost a week of being out of town.
-

"Morning hunny!" My mom chirped, embracing me into a warm hug.
"I made you and your brother some bacon and eggs! Come on now, take a seat and eat up!"
She was oddly happy.
Without hesitation, I asked;
"Why are you so cheerful mom?"
She looked confused at my question.
"I'm just happy to see my babies, that's all!"
Weird.
Shortly after my mom handed me a plate of my bacon and eggs, Richie hopped into the kitchen.
"Morning fuckers!" He grinned.
"Richie, what have I told you about that foul language of yours? Quit it!" My mom scolded.
"Sorry. Mmh... is that bacon I smell?" He asked.
"Mom made us bacon and eggs." I said, cutting up the egg into little pieces.
"Sweet!" He exclaimed, running over to a chair.
My mom had placed Richie's plate onto the table aswell as hers and sat down.
"So, mom..." Richie began while stuffing his face with bacon, "where's dad?"
Mom responded quickly, "He's at the store picking up some groceries. I think Natalie may have forgotten to re-stock the fridge."
I rolled my eyes and so did Richie. I had to refrain myself from saying anything, since it would end up in an argument as usual. If it bothered her that much why didn't she do it before leaving?

I had just finished eating and was cleaning my plate when Dad finally entered.
"Hey kiddos! How's everything going? Sorry we were gone for so long!"
I simply smiled at him and went back to cleaning. Him and Richie were having their own little conversation while mom put away the food.
"Sweetie did you remember the paracetamol I told you to get?" My mom asked turning to my father.
"Oh shoot. Sorry, I forgot. Natalie could you do me a favour and go to the chemist for some paracetamol?" My dad said.
"Oh uh yeah sure. Give me a quick second." I answered.
"Thank you."

I tied my laces and went back to my dad. He gave me two dollars and told me to be back as soon as possible as we needed to go to Victor's. I forgot about that. I headed out the door and walked to the chemist.

As I entered, the bell chimed signalling my arrival. Norbert Keene, or should I say Greta's dad turned to face me and gave me disturbing grin. I went over to the counter and smiled back out of politeness.
"Heya Natalie, what can I get for ya today?"
"Just some paracetamol please mr Keene."
"Of course. Give me one second!"
As he left to fetch them, I started looking at the stuff he had on the counter. A couple of panflets, and a random packet of Marlboro cigarettes alongside a random bottle of prescription medicine. Before he came back, I swiped the packet of cigars and stuffed them in my pocket. Knowing him, he wouldn't notice. I did it a few times with other things around the pharmacy. Each time he never realised they were missing, which made it easier for me to steal from him.
He returned to the front of the counter, bottle in hand and passed it over to me.
"That'll be $2 please." He said. I pulled the dollar bills out of my pocket and handed them to him.
"Thanks." I smiled and left the store.
I then began my walk back home, until a voice in the corner shouted my name. An awfully familiar voice.

"What are you doin' down here?" The voice spoke.
I turned around and came face to face with Patrick. I held up the bottle of paracetamol and turned back around.
"Uh when did I say you could go?" He grabbed my wrist and pulled me back to face him. A blush began to appear on my cheeks.
"What do you want Pat?" I asked. His expression seemed to change once I spoke.
"Pat?" He said quietly.
"Are you gonna answer my question or not?"
"Just wanted to know where you were off to, that's all." A smirk crept on his face once he noticed the redness on mine.
"Home. I'm going home." I replied, annoyed.
The smirk on his face was getting bigger.
"Alright then." He let go of the grip he had on my wrist. It had left a red mark where he had squeezed. "I'll see you around, Sweetheart."
The new nickname created the feeling of butterflies in my stomach. I sped off home trying not to look back at him.

When the time came to go to Victor's, my family and I were ready to go, and so we did. We arrived and Victor's mum greeted us at the door. As Richie walked in, Victor shot a dirty look at him. I knew that would happen. When I walked in, he showed a warm smile. I just awkwardly smiled back at him. He was stood at the top of the stair case, waiting for everyone to pass so he could come down. When he reached me, he told me the reason we were here was because of some garden party his parents were hosting, and they wanted us to come too.

As time passed, I progressively got more and more bored. Victor lay asleep in a deck chair while Richie kept kicking at my feet every now and again on the bench. We were there for a good three hours surrounded by boring adults and conversations galore. Safe to say I would've rather died than be here. Every now and again, I'd get a random adult come up to me and ask if I was okay or if I wanted something to drink, stuff like that. The only other conversations I had were with Victor and Richie. And they didn't last that long either.
