Saturday, Natalie's POV.
A week passed, my parents were still not home. I received a few phone calls every now and again but it was only to ask if Richie and I were alright. They'd always mention how they'd be 'returning soon'. Soon meaning two weeks more or less.
I was laying in bed reading my favourite book, The Woman In Black. Being a person who doesn't really show any interest in books or reading, this was the only novel which caught my interest.Out of the blue, there was a tapping sound at my window.
Tap
One
Tap
Two
Tap
Three
Silence.
I waited a few seconds before another, harder tap followed.
I chucked my duvet to one side and placed my book down on my nightstand before going over to the window. What could be causing all of that noise?
That's when I saw the one and only, Patrick Hockstetter. What was he doing outside of my house? Why was he throwing stones at my window? I opened my it and shouted down,
"One second!"
He nodded his head and walked over to my front door where he waited for it to be opened.
I let him in and went into my living room with him. Thank fuck Richie is at the arcade.
"Your house looks fancy." He said, looking around.
"Ha. Not when you have a 13 year old brother running around trashing the place with his friends." I replied.
He stayed quiet.
The sudden awkward silence was deadly.
"Ahem. Anyways, want something to drink?" I asked.
"What'dya have?" He shoved his hands into his pockets.
"Come with me and I'll see."
We walked to the kitchen and I opened up the fridge.
"Okay well, we have orange soda, lemonade, cola, water..
"Beer thanks." He said while grabbing one of my dad's beer bottles.
We went and sat at the kitchen island where he sparked up conversation again.
"You free today?"
"Yeah, how come?" I responded.
"Wanna come out later? Somewhere just me and you. Like last time."
"A date then?"
"Yeah, call it a date. Where do you wanna go?"
Our second date? Wow. I was beginning to catch feelings for this guy to be honest.
"How about the quarry? Oh my god! We can have one of those picnic dates!" I mentioned, getting excited. The idea of a picnic date was always so cute to me. Like it was almost the perfect date.
He smiled and nodded his head.
"Alright then, picnic date it is!"
"When do you wanna go?" I asked.
"Now? Or whenever you're ready I don't care." He said shrugging his shoulders.
"Okay, I'll get the food."
"Can I have a look around Nat?" Patrick asked.
I nodded my head and he walked off.
"Don't go into Richie's room though!" I added.
"Won't."Patrick's POV
The first room I headed for was of course Natalie's bedroom. I opened the door and was greeted with the strong smell of vanilla and some other weird smell along with a hint of tobacco. I only know what vanilla smells like because of my mom and her obsession with perfume.
Just as I was about to open one of her drawers, she called my name.
I was about to exit her room when I forgot to do something. I looked over at her nightstand and noticed it only had a book on it. I reached into my back pocket and pulled out one of the two zippo lighters I had.
"Might aswell, eh." I mumbled underneath my breath before placing it next to the book.
