Natalie's POV
"And...done." I sighed, laying my head down on the pillow. Vic also breathed a sigh of relief before propping himself up against the headboard.
"Thanks, Nat. D'nno what i'd do without you, honestly. I'd probably have F's!" he laughed. I let out a quiet laugh, too. He was probably right.
We sat silently for a while before realising i didn't want to go back home. Not now, at least. Maybe i could stay here. Or, I could go to Pat's.
"Hey Victor?" I said quietly.
"Whatsup?"
"Can i stay here for a while? I don't really, uhm...I don't think I wanna go home yet." He smiled and nodded,
"As long as you want."
"Thank you so much." I responded. Truth was, i never wanted to go home. Ever. It's like I was never a part of the family in the first place, really. I guess i'm pretty much always ignored. My room is practically my safe haven - I never leave it, i swear. But hey, it's better than being anywhere else in the house. Vic's room is another safe haven for me. It's so comforting. I've never understood why. Patrick's...not so much. Victor is so much more tidy and clean than Patrick- and i hate saying it, but it's the truth. I like cleanliness and tidy rooms. Messy, dirty rooms full of playboy magazines and piles of old clothes? Not so much. I love Pat nonetheless. I just don't like his room.A few hours passed, and I woke up realising I never left Victor's side. I had fallen asleep, and clearly, so had he. That studying must've tired us out.
Vic was snoring his head off. He looked so funny when he was asleep. His hair was everywhere, and he was sprawled out, taking up most of the room.
I looked over at the clock by his side and realised how late it really was. Shit. 8:30? You've gotta be joking... If Pat found out about any of this, about me sleeping in the same bed as Victor, that i stayed at his until late, that I was round at his in general. He'd fucking murder me on sight. I immediately rose from the bed and grabbed my jacket hanging from one of the pegs on the wall. I put it on and left, walking across the street and into my house."What time do you call this?" Richie said. He was sat on the stairs, he was waiting for me.
"Why do you care, you wanted nothing to do with me earlier." I scoffed.
"You were with that little boyfriend of yours, weren't you?" my heart felt as if it was about to drop. Someone's said something, or he's worked it out for himself.
"No, actually. I was with Victor, at his house studying for the exam." I choked, "I uh, fell asleep."
He rolled his eyes. "Course. I know about you and Hockstetter, by the way." FUCK.
"But...How? Who told you Richie!?"
"Eds saw you two round back, funny though because apparently it wasn't just that!"
"What was it." I gulped. They definitely hate me.
"You were with Henry...and the 'others'. Y'know, the people who pulled a fuckin' knife out on Ben and CUT HIM?" He raised his voice.
"Listen Richie please just listen to me, i stopped it-
"No you didn't though. Are you that inconsiderate? That heartless, you'd get with your own brother's bully and hang around with the group after everything they've done. Not just to me or my friends, but everyone else unfortunate enough to come into contact with them. You're just gonna forget it all?"
My heart had sunk, i stood there in the middle of the hallway like a statue, listening and taking in everything he was saying.
"Do you happen to have forgotten... the night I sat in the living room with you and bawled my eyes out over what Henry did to me too...?" He said, speaking in quavering tones. Eventually, tears had begun to flow from his eyes. That was when i really regretted it all, i realised what i had done and had felt instantly remourseful, but the damage had already been done. My brother hates me, the losers hate me. Pretty much the whole school hate me. What more do i have to lose?
"I'm sorry. I really am,Rich. I didn't mean to hurt you. You weren't supposed to find out." I shrugged.
"Damn well you better be sorry."
