"whatchu doing?" reggie came and laid beside me in the bed.

"i was texting jayden but now he's not responding so i'm about to take a nap." i said, locking my phone and getting comfortable.

"you sleep all day long." he laughed. "it's only 8. it won't even be considered a nap at this point."

"shut up." i laid my head on the pillow and scooted closer to him. "cuddle with me."

"ion like cuddling, ima end up putting dick in you." he shook his head.

i laughed, slapping his shoulder, "reggie!"

"you want me to be real witchu don't you?" he asked.

"some things should be kept to yourself." i said, checking my phone again to see if jayden responded.

"go to sleep." he mumbled, getting under the covers. he snaked his hand around my waist and pulled me so we were chest to chest.

"goodnight." i said, turning to face the other way.

he snaked his hand under my shirt and let it rest on my stomach before replying, "goodnight."

"nova." i groaned as i felt myself being shaken awake. "nova."

"what?" i answered, rubbing my eyes to see reggie standing beside the bed with my phone in his hand.

"yo' phone keep ringing. must be important." he gave me the phone as it started ringing yet again.

i read the screen, seeing jayden's name across the top. i looked at the time seeing it was 3 in the morning. i quickly became alarmed because jayden was never awake or calling me around that time.

i slid my finger across the screen, answering it. "hello?"

"nova!" i heard india's voice ring through the speakers. "i'm sorry to be calling you so late but i have something to tell you."

as i continued listening i could tell she was holding back tears, which made my heart drop as i started thinking the worst. "is everything okay?"

"we just got in a car accident like 20 minutes ago." she said. "i don't know what's going on with jayden and amoura but i don't think it's looking good."

"what?" i threw the covers off me and jumped out the bed. "what do you mean? how much is a flight to dallas? i'll come as fast as i can."

"we're not in dallas. we're in atlanta. we're at that hospital that's 10 minutes away from you. i'm not sure what it's called." she said.

i slipped on my shoes as i listened to her talk. "where you goin'?" reggie followed behind me as i frantically looked for my keys.

"the hospital." i quickly said. "jayden and his family got into an accident."

"oh shit, they good?" he grabbed the keys from lord knows where and gave them to me. "i'm comin' witchu."

"i don't know." i rushed to the door. "i'm on my way!" i said to india before ending the phone call.

"they won't tell me anything." india said as she paced the floors of the waiting room. "i'm going crazy."

"how bad did it look at the scene?" i asked as i watched her pace.

"i'm not sure. we were all unconscious. it all happened so fast. i woke up in the back of an ambulance." she spoke quickly. "i don't know what to do."

"calm down." i grabbed her hand and guided her to the chairs and we took a seat. "i bet it's not as bad as you think. you have to have faith. amoura and jayden are both strong."

"i know but.." she trailed off as tears rolled down her face. "i have to think realistically. amoura was ejected from her carseat. jayden had to be pulled from the car. what if this is the end? they're all i have nova. i wouldn't be able to do this without them."

"i understand and i'm sorry this happened." i told her as i began to tear up myself. "everything's gonna be okay. speak it into existence. both jayden and amoura are gonna walk out of this hospital with only a scratch or a bruise by the end of this week."

"thank you." she pulled me into a hug.

"how did this even happen?"

"jayden was driving." she started. "he was texting someone, i'm not sure if it was you or one of his friends."

i instantly knew it was me, because jayden had randomly stopped responding in the middle of us having a conversation.

"he looked down at his phone for literally 3 seconds and the crash happened." she shook her head as more tears rushed down her face. "we were on the road because we were coming to see you. it was supposed to be a surprise visit because we know how much you've been missing amoura."

"i'm so sorry." i frowned.

"family of jayden and amoura rogers?" we quickly stood and headed over to the doctor to hear what he had to say.

"is everything okay?" india asked. "can i go see my baby? she's probably so scared right now."

"jayden has recently waken up and should be fine. he had a small blow to the head but nothing was damaged. he's currently being placed under medication for his pain. unfortunately, his walking is very limited right now. he's complained about not being able to feel in certain parts of his legs. we've scheduled for him to start therapy as soon as he leaves the hospital so that can be placed under control, nothing to worry about." he explained.

i inwardly sighed in relief hearing this news. i was so glad my brother was okay.

"what about my baby?" india asked.

"well," the doctor made a sad face before speaking again. "im sorry to say this."

"no..." i whispered, not needing to hear the rest.

everything literally went black as i tried to process what was going on.

my niece was gone.. forever.
