[MARTHA'S POV]
I was out for a swim at sea while the others waited at the harbour. As soon as I got far out enough, I calmed myself down and slowed my heartbeat. I could feel the current making me drift and bob from side to side just below the surface. Just like when I was a toddler, I felt a tingly feeling in my legs as bubbles began to swirl and swarm around my body. The tingly feeling began to strengthen to the point that it spread throughout my body. The skin from my feet stretched and began to form a tail fin like you would have seen on a dolphin. The rest of the skin from my legs also stretched and connected to bring my legs together. When I was done, I made sure that I was in the clear to swim around to my heart's content.
Suddenly, I felt another presence in the water with me. It felt.. familiar. I stopped swimming and waited. I felt the presence approach, making we whip around to face it, only to be bumped backward, making me lose my balance.
'What was that?' I thought. I focused my eyes on the presence. I saw Cogat floating before me in the water.
'Found you.' I heard something say.
I looked around. 'What was that?' I thought.
'Me.' I looked out at Cogat.
'No way.' I eyes widened in the water. 'You can thought-speak with me too?'
'Of course, dummy. I can do anything you can do, but better.'
I rolled my eyes. 'Megalomaniac.' I blinked and saw that Cogat was gone. I suddenly felt her behind me. This wasn't the first time she pulled this old trick.
'Hand over your powers, and your friends don't die.'
'You're joking, right? You already tried this with my family and that didn't exactly work out well last time.'
'True, but your precious friends might leave a different result.'
'You're bluffing.'
'If you don't believe me, look out below.'
I suddenly went into a state of panic as I swam up to the surface. I saw Cogat levitate above the water and power up. Luckily, Dylan noticed her and got the other Guardians to power up and get brace themselves. I sighed from relief and went back under the water to swim out to the docks. As I cut through the water, I felt my tail receding back into my separate legs. I powered up as I did and splashed up through the surface of the water and landed next to the other Guardians who'd newly just powered up.
"How was your swim?" Dylan looked at me.
"Obviously cut short." I looked back at them.
"Let's see how you handle... THIS!" Cogat shot energy at us, but I was too fast for her. In the heat of the moment, I flogged in front of the other Guardians and conjured up a wall of water to protect us.
