[MARTHA'S POV]
"Guys, I wish there was a way to help you, but you're going to have to put in the extra hours if you want to catch up with the rest of your grade." Mrs Daccarey explained.
"We can only pull so many strings, but it's up to you guys to put in the work." Ms Jacobs handed us some worksheets to catch up on the work we missed. She gave Art theory notes to Dylan and Oliver, Geography notes to myself and Ivan, Biology to Alya and Alec, as well as French to Eric and Margot. "This is just to get you all started. There will be more on the way, so just let us know when you need more and we'll be happy to provide."
We decided to get straight to work. We also agreed that those of us with subjects in common could group up with one another to get through more ground at a quicker pace. Geography was easier to understand because Ivan knows rocks inside and out, while I've seen all the seas of the world in my many aquatic travels with my family. For some odd reason, it felt like the time was flying faster than I expected. Time flies when you're busy catching up on your studies, I guess. Since we were the only ones on the school premises, besides some teachers, the surrounding environment was quiet, making it easier to concentrate than on normal school days. After two hours, we went back outside to have some lunch. We walked through the main quad as we ate our food.
"I just can't believe we managed to pull a rabbit out of a hat yesterday." Eric shook his head in disbelief.
"It is the little victories that matter." Alya put her hand on his shoulder.
"I still can't believe I performed Osmosis. It was insane how I pulled that off." Oliver turned to Alya, "I couldn't have done it without the assists from you or Margot though."
Margot jokingly pointed at Oliver with one of her baby carrots. "Just remember that when it's my turn, you owe me an assist."
We all laughed cheerfully until the ground shook as if an earthquake had struck.
"Don't look at me, I'm not doing this." Ivan declared.
The rumbling came to a halt.
"It's quiet now, too quiet." Ivan put his hand down on the ground, feeling for any surrounding vibrations caused by movement.
Alec was concentrating intensely as he pressed a few fingers up to his temples. He gasped and released his touch from the sides of his head. "The trees. They... they felt it too. They say that evil is nearby."
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" I looked around nervously.
"We have to get to the staff. We can't lose them to the Anti-Elementals too." Alya urged.
We made immediate haste and moved as fast as we could towards the main halls of the school building. Since there were only 6 teachers on the premises, myself and Dylan stayed near the main entrance, while everyone else ran over to check on the teachers.
