Chapter 39: Double Date

~8/6/16: 1 Month Before Marinette Leaves~

"I hope it's okay that I invited Alya and Nino. I just felt weird doing this without them." I say to Adrien as we put on our ice skates.

He looks up to look at everyone on the ice. Alya and Nino are skating hand in hand. Luka's talking to Chloe to make her feel included. I love how sweet he is.

"No it's fine. I'm glad they're here." He stands up and holds out his hand to help me up. "And how did Chloe feel about it?" I take his hand and he pulls me up.

Adrien chuckles and shakes his head. "She was mad. She said Alya told her something at your party. Do you know what she said?" "Um let's just say Alya wanted to get under Chloe's skin and it worked." He nods. "Are you upset?" He looks at me and shakes his head.

"No. Chlo's probably being dramatic as always." "I mean it's understandable. Alya was out of line." Adrien furrows his eyebrows. "What?" I ask. "You're taking Chloes side?" I laugh. "I know we don't get along, but I can admit when someone's in the wrong."

"I know. It's one of the things I love about you." I smile at him. I turn my head away to hide my blush. "Mari can I tell you something?" I look back at him and nod. "Anything Agreste. You know that."

We stop walking and he takes in a deep breath. He's trying to calm himself down for whatever he's about to say. "I'm in lo-" "Marinette!" Luka skates to me and pulls me into him. "I want to try out a trick with you."

"I'll be there in a second." He nods and gives me a quick peck before skating away. I turn my gaze back to Adrien. His eyes are somewhere else now. He's still looking at me, but he's distant.

"Adrien? Is everything okay?" He shakes away whatever look was in his eyes and nods. "Of course. Yeah." "What were you saying?" "Oh um." He takes a moment before continuing.

"I was thinking of telling Chloe that I love her. How do I do that?" That's not at all what I thought he was going to say. My heart drops and I give him a fake smile.

"Just come right out and tell her." "Can I practice on you?" "I- I don't know if that's a good idea Agreste." "Please. I just need to say it." I nod. "Okay fine."

He takes my hands in his. He's focused only on me. "I'm in love with you Marinette." He doesn't draw his eyes away from mine. It feels like we're the only two people in the world. His eyes are filled with love and desire. And for once, this look is directed towards me.

"I'm in love with you too Adrien." He smiles and this moment is exactly how I pictured it would be.

Except he's not saying it for me. I'm just the practice dummy. Those 3 words will be said to someone who's not me.

"I think that's perfect just make sure to say Chloe's name next time." He blinks and the look in his eyes is gone. He laughs and nods. "Got it. Thank you." I smile and nod. "Of course."

I slide my hand out of his and point behind him. "I think we should get to our dates now." He nods and we go our separate ways.

I laugh as Luka sets me down. He just did a trick where he lifted me into the air. "How was that one?" He asks proudly. "That one was great." He gives me a soft kiss. "Okay I want to try one more." I nod as he explains to me what to do.

"Got it?" "Got it." He grabs my hand and twirls me into him. When he twirls me away we hear Chloe yell, "You're doing it again!" Luka's hand slips out of mine. "Come on Chlo. That's not what I'm doing." "Yes it is! You haven't payed attention to me at all."

I fly into the wall and crash to the floor. Adrien's and Luka's eyes land on me with the noise. Chloe says something to Adrien. I can't make out what she said.

Adrien says something before him and Luka skate over to me. They both hold their hands out to me. My eyes flicker between both of them.

I can't decide who's hand I should take. Adriens? My best friend and the love of my life? Or Luka's? My boyfriend and the boy who loves me unconditionally.

Alya saves me from my choice. She skates over and pulls me up. "Are you okay girl?" "I'm sorry Marinette." "It's fine Luka. I'm okay Al."

I look around the rink and turn to Adrien. "Where's Chloe?" He shrugs. "She left." We all exchange looks. "Are you sure you're okay?" Adrien asks changing the subject.

"Yeah I'm fine." "No come on I'll get you to your dorm." "Im okay Al. I promise." "I still think you should go rest Mari." I look at Luka hoping he'll agree with me. He shakes his head.

"You hit your head pretty hard. I agree with them." "Seriously?" I turn to Nino. "Come on dude. Help me out here?" Nino laughs and shakes his head. "You never say dude. Something must be wrong."

"Help me take her to my car?" Alya asks and the guys nod. "I can walk everyone. Geez." They guide me to the exit and I begin to take off the skates.

"You're gonna go with Alya?" Luka sits beside me and I nod. "There's no way that girl will let me
out of her sight right now." He laughs. "Let me know when you're in your dorm okay?" "I will." He gives me a quick kiss before walking away.

Adrien sits beside me and begins taking off his skates. "Everything okay with you and Chloe?" He nods. "We just got into a fight." "Do you want to talk about it?"

"No it's okay. I wouldn't want to give you an even bigger concussion." I roll my eyes and bump my shoulder into his. "I don't have a concussion." He looks down at my hands. "You've been trying to take off that skate for five minutes." "Okay that's an exaggeration."

He laughs and kneels down. He places one hand on my ankle to keep my foot steady while the other hand works on taking off the skate.

Alya and Nino walk over to us. "What a cute couple." They tease. Adrien and I roll our eyes. Adrien turns his head up to look at them. "You think you can give me a ride? Chloes the one who drove." Nino nods.

"Of course dude. We always have room for you." Alya helps Adrien with the shoes and we all walk to the car.

"Did you guys hear that the new Ladybug and Cat Noir movie is coming out next month?" Nino asks as he climbs into the drivers seat.

"We were saying that we should try to get tickets to the premiere." Adrien and I nod. "Yeah that sounds fun."

If I would've known what was going to happen at the premiere, I would've said no.
