THE next day at almost seven p.m, Cassius walked out of his room and stopped when he heard Ginny Weasley's voice in Harry's room— the door being opened a little.

Cassius debated for a second, then walked nearer to Harry's room, starting to eavesdrop.

"—I'm sorry, Ginny. I know this is going to hurt you, but it's not you that I like." Cassius heard Harry say, catching his full attention.

"Who is it, then? Who is she?" Ginny replied, her voice shaky.

"You wouldn't understand."

"Why wouldn't I?"

"It's not a she, Ginny." Harry replied with a sigh. "That's why."

"Well, who is he?" Ginny seemed unbothered by the change of genders, seeming like she just wanted to know who it was.

Harry let out a sigh of relief at her not being any different. "Well, it's—"

Cassius stopped listening and immediately walked back to his room and closed the door. He sat down on his bed and pulled out a cigarette, lighting it up. When it was lit, he put it to his lips and took a drag.

He put his head in his hands, exhaling the smoke a few seconds later.

If Cassius was told that he would be smoking a cigarette with Ginny Weasley a few days ago, he would have laughed.

But that was exactly what he was doing right now after Ginny knocked on his bedroom door and walking in when Cassius let her come in, then she sat in front of him and took one of his cigarettes, lighting it up for herself.

Cassius was quiet the whole time, merely smoking his own cigarette.

Ginny exhaled smoke, then looked at him. "You should really give Harry a chance. He made a mistake. The kiss meant nothing."

Cassius seemed doubtful. "Playing therapist, Weasley?"

"No. I'm just letting you know."

"It meant something to you."

Ginny shrugged, looking at the cigarette between her fingers. "I've had a crush on Harry ever since we were kids. But he deserves to be with the person he likes, not with me."

Cassius tensed. "He likes.. me?"

Ginny nodded with a small smile. "That's what he told me." She said, moving her knees to her chest. "Like I said, you should just hear him out. He looks like he's going crazy without you."

"Well, maybe he shouldn't have kissed you." Cassius mumbled, taking another drag from his cigarette.

Ginny nodded slowly, looking at his room. "He regrets that a lot."

Cassius hummed, not giving a reply.

"Why is your room so empty?"

"What should it have?" He asked back with a confused look.

"Photos. Photo books. Anything with memories." She said as if it was obvious. "Especially from childhood. Your room is so empty."

"I don't have a childhood worth remembering, Weasley."

She pursed her lips at his answer, then changed back the topic to Harry as soon as he realized his uncomfortable look. "When will you give Harry a chance?" She asked with a look. "I know you want him too. That's obvious, Black."

"When the time feels right. Right now, he has death eaters wanting to kill him to deal with. He has to focus on keeping himself safe, not on me."

"That is exactly why he needs you right now, Black. Don't be dumb."

"What are you gaining from this?" He asked in confusion, looking at her. "Letting go of the guy you've liked since you were a kid and helping someone you think is more worthy of him to be with him."

"His happiness." Ginny replied as if it was obvious.

"I am not as worthy of him as you think I am, Weasley. In fact, you could make him happier than I ever can."

"If that's so right, why do you think he's choosing you?"

Cassius became quiet, putting the cigarette in an ashtray. Ginny did the same thing.

"He chose you, Black." Ginny stood up, walking to the door. "He chose you."
