GOING back home for Yule was the thing every student was excited for and looking forward to. It was finally that time, too. Students were all boarding the train from Hogwarts to King's Cross station.Harry Potter sat down in one of the Gryffindor compartments with his friends, Ron and Hermione.
Hermione was looking at him with a suspicious look, which Harry pretended not to notice.
When he couldn't take it anymore, he asked, "What is it, Hermione?"
"What's going on between you and Black?" Hermione immediately asked, catching Ron's attention.
"Nothing is going on," replied Harry as soon as she asked with an eye roll. "And even if it was, why would you want to know?"
"You've been acting too different." Hermione pointed out, crossing her arms. "I just thought maybe it was because of him."
"Why would it be because of him?" Ron joined in, looking confused. "Harry's got death eaters wanting him dead, Mione. Maybe that's why he's acting different."
"Thank you, Ron." Harry motioned towards the boy. "See? Ron gets it."
"Alright," mumbled Hermione in doubt, letting it go.

As soon as Harry and Cassius were back at Grimmauld, they sat down in the living room with Sirius and Regulus.
Regulus smiled at his son, pulling him into a side hug. "Welcome back, Cassius."
"Thanks," said Cassius, putting his leg on top of the other. "How is everything?"
Regulus glanced at his brother— who was walking out of the room with his godson and going to the kitchen to eat something— then shrugged. "Everything's alright. I heard some Slytherins were giving you a hard time."
"No." Cassius shook his head with furrowed brows. "They haven't given me a hard time. Their looks and glares are just annoying."
Regulus bit his lip in thought. "And Draco?"
"Not him. I haven't talked to him in ages."
His father nodded slowly, then let out a sigh. "Be safe, Cassius. Be as safe as you possibly can."
"I'm trying, father. You too."
Regulus shook his head. "As long as you're safe. That's all that matters."
"No," Cassius said with a shake of his head. "You matter too. You better be safe too."
"I am." The man looked at his son, a flash of pride passing through his eyes. "You're handling this well. I'm proud of you, Cassius."
Cassius felt his lips twitch into a smile. He put his head on his father's shoulder as if it was a normal thing to do and not something he has probably done for the first time ever. "Thanks, dad."
Regulus ruffled his son's hair, smiling more widely when his son groaned. "Take care of Sirius and Harry if something ever happens to me, okay?"
"Nothing will happen to you." His son immediately said. "Take care of Harry if something happens to me."
"Harry, huh?" Regulus asked in a teasing tone, then he nodded. "Nothing will happen to you too, Cassius. I'll keep you safe. I'm sorry I wasn't able to do that before."
Cassius became quiet for a few seconds, then said, "I forgive you."
And he did.
Maybe that was the start of Cassius' development; forgiving his father.
Or maybe that had already started when Cassius wasn't uncomfortable with his uncle's hugs.
Or maybe that had started when Cassius let someone see his scars for the first time ever.
